PhaseOne Drops A Massive Record

A new album just dropped from PhaseOne and this record crosses the boundary between a massively driving heavy metal feel, and a break beat, drum and bass, and jungle tonality by putting together this massive and edgy grittiness that feels like tracks are just peeking out with this unbelievable drive, and fierce metal vocal approaches that push that drive even further through the roof.
The Terranova album manages to take those elements and also blend in alternative rock, emo, and more, but remains within this gigantic electronic landscape, and this to me is such a rejuvenating and refreshing approach to genre bending that I couldn't turn away from it.
Songs like "Pulse" serve as a perfect example of what I mean. You have vocals that are melodic and back in early 2000s emo style bands, but also this hard-hitting drum and bass and electronic style beat and synth that really lets the song thrive and push through an incredible energy level that becomes so infectious it gets in your blood.
Then you have tracks like 'Beyond" that come through in a more melodic state with an almost dreamy or vast undertone, but still with the drive that is a Surefire staple of the album.
This track has that beautiful sort of graceful, floaty approach in its underbelly and some synths that come through with a more colorful touch, bringing different tones and textures to the song and building an atmosphere that is stellar.
A lot of times, this record feels very cinematic, and it's super easy to tell that there was a lot of attention to detail that went into the creation of it, because the tones and sounds that build this record are very unique. To put them together and make this work the way it does definitely takes time and attention.
You can tell a lot of love went into this record, and that PhaseOne has a lot of love for the craft of building songs, but as he does it, he makes sure that they have some sort of punch to them.
That punched me be a more vast and melodic one, or it may be a pounding and fiery overdrive that just delivers energy levels that are on fire the entire time.
They make you want to sing along or dance.
That's kind of the beauty of a record like this. By the time you get halfway through it, you don't exactly know what to expect anymore. You begin to expect the unexpected.
This was an album built without walls around it and without expectations of what people think. This is addicting in so many ways, from the excitable and vivacious energy and drive, to those graceful soundscapes that send you a drift but still have that edge.
It all comes together like puzzle pieces.
The important thing about this record is that you have to listen to it in full.
If you just check out a few tracks, you're not getting anywhere near what this album has to offer as a whole.
There is a slew of influences, different styles, approaches, soundscapes, Sonic texture, and just a multitude of layers that come in and out, and intensities that come through in waves.
You do not want to miss a single track because you may think you know what's coming, but you certainly do not.
I can't remember the last time I listened to an album that surprised me the way this one did.
Definitely check this one out because it's completely addicting, and this does indeed blend that heavy and hard rock tonality with driving drum and bass, electronic, EDM, and more.
It is all done with heart and should not be missed.
