A blistering new thrash and death metal single from Chronic Trigger absolutely melts your face with endless changes and trudging masterfully performed riffs, screaming and melodic edgy vocals to go along with a vast and closed fisted set of riffs and drumming that destroys all the way through.
The track is delightfully called "Plucking Pustule Peter's Poisoned Porky Porpoise Punchbowl Party" and if you think that's a mouthful, dive into this track because it'll feel like an earthquake under your feet.
The single has no signs of losing an iota of energy because it doesn't slow down until it's half-time deep punch to the gut sections.
The cool thing is that the song shows such a killer level of musicianship all around. It's a blitzkrieg of explosive metal that hits hard and is precise with its every note.
This song has a counterpart though, and it's a pivotal part of the project as a whole.
That counterpart comes in the form of a bloody and grueling music video that's completely animated in stop motion and its gory as hell.
This all takes metal and animated music videos to a different level. These guys truly pushed the envelope with this single and video and it's something you have to hear and see to believe.
With the release of such a killer single and video, we had to talk to Chronic Trigger about where this all comes from and what's next.
Here's what went down.
Buzz Slayers: Let's kick things off with the single "Plucking Pustule Peter's Poisoned Porky Porpoise Punchbowl Party'. This track is blistering, and the video had to be a part of the whole concept. Where did all of this come from?
I would say that the conglomeration of riffs led to the ridiculous song title, which inevitably led to a claymation video. It was the only thing ridiculous enough to express the song itself. How else do you describe what terrible roommate's dolphins make?
Buzz Slayers: So, when did music start affecting you? When did you know making music was something you wanted to be doing?
Eons ago...in the future before Christmas present...Seriously, for all of us, it has always affected us. It's all we know, and all we know to do. There was never a question of what we would do.
Buzz Slayers: What inspires you to write a song?
Excitement. The excitement of new music. We're just as excited to hear new music that we write, as our fans are to hear us play it.
Buzz Slayers: Can you give us some of your top musical influences?
All of them. There are no limits to our musical tastes and influences. Though our roots clearly lie in metal, we never let that limit us in our creative process.
Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?
Working and focusing on the business of music: creating, marketing, etc.
Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?
Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem band.
Buzz Slayers: Are you guys thrashing live right now?
Yes, Chronic Trigger is always thrashing live! We always have shows coming up in the SLC area, as well as some upcoming festivals and tours. Keep an eye on our social media pages for the next show in a city near you!
Buzz Slayers: This single and video feels like a big undertaking, is there any advice you'd give to other up and coming bands out there?
Never invest any less time or money in yourself than you would ask from someone else. Your dream is only as big as you are willing to make it. Never stop pushing and striving. It's only over if you quit.
Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?
The full release of the "You Can't Dance to This" album, as well as several more unique music videos in addition to shows and tours. Our social media also includes exclusive behind-the-scenes content and comedy shorts with new videos posted weekly.
Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?
Support the scene! None of this is easy, no one succeeds without your support! You are the reason why we do this, every face in the crowd, every note shared means nothing if not given the chance to share it with every one of you. Eat your vegetables!
