A New Single and Music Video from 802

A new release from 802 comes through with a very unique but sonically full and present soundscape that has a unique approach that blends an amazing colorful Edge with a bright pop underbelly, and those two things come together so smoothly and seamlessly throughout this track that you end up falling right into the entire atmosphere it gives off.

"H.I.T.S." is a track that bends and blends genres at free will by bringing in digital and natural instrumentation along with these flowy and harmonious vocals that really add gorgeous layers and texture to the track, along with a melody that feels good to listen to.

One of the things that really hit me hard about this track was the guitar tones and how much attention they paid to creating a tonality that stuck with the listener.

This was an amazing guitar tone that had an element of chorus effect to it so it felt watery and wavy in a sense, bringing that slight quirkiness to the song and adding that color even more, which worked amazingly with the vocal approach being so smooth and almost angelic in a sense.

The whole thing had a dream-like tonality to it, and that aesthetic sticks to the track even though it rocks out.

It's almost like a mix of alternative and pop rock with shoegaze and electronic, and a strange sense, but it all works so incredibly well here that it becomes infectious and addictive.

I love the way they approach the percussion because it feels like it's a live drum performance, but they coat the symbols in this almost digitized effect that makes it feel like a perfect blend of natural drums and digital drums.

I love questioning those kinds of things. When a band like this puts that much effort into creating a specific aesthetic or soundscape, they go above and beyond in terms of making those textures work together.

It's definitely not often that I'm questioning whether or not the percussion or drumming is actually real or digital, but they certainly pulled it off here.

Although the song has that dreamy feel, it also has great drive to it, and the extra guitar parts that come in during some of the chorus sections add that heaviness and edginess, but never go super over the top.

Those are the sections that even have the more harmonious vocals that still feel floating and almost ghostly in a way.

The blending of elements and approaches between the heavier rock sections, the floating vocals, the thick low end from the bass guitar but also the really unique drum tones, is all something that creates this sort of graceful atmosphere that still hits hard and has that edgy feel, but somehow grabs you along to float alongside the entire thing.

Again, that is how this song is unique. Being able to portray the heaviness but also the lightness at the same time is really a hard thing to balance in one song but these guys do it brilliantly.

I absolutely fell for this track and listened to it quite a few times to really pick up on everything.

I do think this one is a track for headphones because there's a lot happening and although the song does rock out, there are these extra layers going on and it's great to listen with headphones also so you can pick up on more of the lyrics and the vocals floating through the ether of the track.

Having said all that, another heavy attribute to this track is its music video. The video is filmed with such cinematic brilliance and amazing acting that it's one of the best ways to listen to the song for the first time.

I'm not going to give everything away, but it's got a bit of a horror movie effect to it and blends black and white with color.

You can tell a lot went into the music video for this single, and it was done amazingly.

Very creative, outside the box, a bit experimental, very fun, and packed with character, this track is something to dive into right now because it's got such a unique soundscape that he won't be able to turn it off.
