A new single release from VANYRA X delivers a massive crossover soundscape that comes through with a vast and cinematic undertone, an anthemic overtone, and a powerful blend of pop and alternative rock.
"One Frequency (We Are)" is an absolute pop banger, and it wastes very little time getting to the point or giving you that robust atmosphere and energy that you'd want from a song like this.
The track opens up with a great instrumental hook, which is already something that I love because you don't get enough of that anymore in pop music.
There's so much pop music out there that has great choruses, just as this one does, but a lot of the time they're missing that instrumental hook, whether it's a synth, guitar, keys, whatever.
I'm so glad to hear this band bring that back in such a strong way.
And it's done with keys and guitar at the same time, so it's already thick and robust in its texture.
Things exhale back down to a moment when the verses come in, and the vocals are smooth and alluring.
This is where some of the more spacious elements come in, and you get that ambient underbelly while some of the verses are playing out.
The beat is pretty strong, a straightforward four-on-the-floor type of feel, giving it that pop push, but there are also these guitars that add depth to the track.
The guitars during the verses aren't the same as the ones during the hook. These are lighter and more delicate, more cinematic.
They also work amazingly with the tone of our vocals.
As the song builds up towards the pre-chorus, more synthesizers and keys come in, but they do so in an orchestral sense. They are like strings, and this brings up the intensity level of the song as the vocalist starts getting more intense as well.
Throughout these sections, she starts coming up with gorgeous harmonies that are just swelling and beautiful.
She's got a very elegant performance that still bears a lot of soul, and when she wants to hit things hard and get more intense, she's not afraid to do it.
Soon enough, more guitars come in, adding the rock backbone I mentioned earlier.
At a certain point in the song, you have these elements of electronic and rock smashing together, and it works beautifully because it is again orchestrated and put together with attention to detail.
Some great heavy rock riffs could come into play, especially one that hits right before the bridge, and after that heavier guitar section comes through, you have that more delicate exhale once again.
She's got a gorgeous approach to singing, and at times her voice is almost like an instrument itself. The vocals are boisterous but also smooth and silky; she's got such an amazing and unique texture to her tone.
I think that's part of what makes this track so special. It's the blending of genres into something that's got its own vibe, but as refreshing and cinematic as it is, it's also a little bit familiar. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's doing things in a brilliantly approached fashion. They are creating something that is all their own, while also giving you a soundscape that you can get engulfed by.
It's been a long time since I've heard a track that seamlessly took some of the best elements of electronic, pop, and rock, infused them together in A Soulful fashion, so that you have a huge track with unique sonic drive and presence.
It really works in its own form, and you have to hear it to know exactly what I'm talking about, so you should be listening to it by now already.
By the time that final course comes in, there's loads of harmonies, guitars, since, an orchestrated backbone, and filmic thickness that all hit full Throttle.
This is the moment the song hits the pinnacle. The climax. It's at its most intense moment, and you can really feel that in your bones.
The almost futuristic or science fiction theme this project portrays is borderline genius.
Songs like "Transmission_8 (Fragment of Kael)" display such a love for the craft of not just songwriting, but also for utilizing that sense of cinematic and almost futuristic feel, thematically throughout its course.
Absolutely start with this track because it's a great way to introduce you to the project and the band, but I also suggest dipping into their back catalog on Spotify, because there's so much to soak in there.
