A Heavy and Progressive New Single from Devoted Fusion

ree

The latest single from Devoted Fusion delivers a cross of blistering metal, alternative rock, grunge, and a bit of progressive undertones, all wrapped up into one huge track that gives you a lot to chew on in the way of heavy guitar tone, memorable riffs, and an almost theatrical backbone.

"Inship" kicks off with a heavier note, giving that memorable progression, hints of thrashing, and grunge-style drumming before breaking back down to a more stripped set of verses that have clean guitars, giving that progressive flow and an ambient, vast underbelly that keeps you engaged.

I have to say, the drumming is astounding on this track. The drummer doesn't just keep the pace or sit in the pocket; he adds loads of memorable fills and electric energy to the entire track, and it feels like a lot of the rest of the band sort of pushes off of that.

They have a brilliant way of changing from the chorus back into the verses, that progression itself is genius and really adds a natural and forward-moving flow to the song itself.

The guitar work is also amazing throughout this thing. There's some great guitar solo work that is also sort of expansive and spacious, melodically based but isn't afraid to shred a little bit, without being over the top, but more based on the melodies of the song and the mood of the music.

One of my favorite aspects of the track is the ending section, where they change pace and things get more classic metal, with trudging palm-muted riffs and classic rock feels.

The vocals are excellent, especially in the way of melodic push. The singing is very melodically driving, delivering memorable melodies and hugs, robust courses that add a little bit more intensity, but always having this sort of heart to it.

This song also has those hints of wetness. There is a lot of reverb effect on different instruments like the guitars and the vocals, giving the track a lot of depth. That's an attribute that is always there. The song has layers and depth to it. It sort of pulls you into its world, and it feels, again, theatrical but also a little fantastical.

It's got a great storyline behind it about embarking on a journey, and throughout that, it's also talking about overcoming fears, so it delves into personal and almost emotional attributes while putting it in terms of taking an actual massive journey.

Being able to describe inner struggle in such a sense was genius because you're able to pick up on that personal undertone while the description is so outward.

It's about a crew on a ship getting ready for a big battle and making sure that they can overcome their fear and charge ahead.

The trials, tribulations, and questions that revolve around being afraid of the imminent are really pertinent in this track. The way the lyrical approach puts it is able to let you paint a picture in your head as the song unfolds.

This is one of my favorite things about the entire thing because it works perfectly. The lyrics are descriptive, edgy, haunting, and all help build on that theatrical element I mentioned earlier.

The whole track manages to hit really hard while keeping to that expansive storytelling approach, which isn't easy to do, but they pull it off seemingly naturally.

The fluctuation of intensities throughout the track really helps create calm before the storm and lets the choruses come in with a bigger impact.

This was such a great combination of genres as well. You hear that progressive metal element, classic rock, loads of the alternative rock sitting on top of it all, that heavy, edgy overtone packs a lot of punch, and that's why the song feels closed-fisted and anthemic.

The decision to listen to loud music or with headphones on so you could soak it all in properly.

It is absolutely an escape that takes you into a different world and a different story and it's well worth embarking on this journey.

Check this one out now and remember where you heard it first.
