The Lazy Janes Drop A Banger of An EP

The latest EP release from The Lazy Janes brings out a slew of indie rock approaches with a bit of thrashing out, hints of garage, and a lot of colorful and fun yet edgy soundscapes.

The Lazy Janes EP wastes very little time coming in with a banger, and that first track is something that works as an amazing introduction to the rest of the EP as it bears some of the best staples that the band provides as a whole.

"The Thing" has some outstanding guitar tone and a slightly aggressive but still poppy and colorful performance, along with a bass guitar line that just makes the whole song come to life, and drums that bring all of that added drive.

Throughout this entire record, it does feel like the drumming is something the rest of the band really thrives off of.

As a whole, it feels almost like these guys recorded this live on the floor to an extent. It's like everyone was feeding off of each other's energies the entire time, and this is part of what makes it so addicting.

I definitely got caught up in some of the riffs and vocal melodies because the vocals are performed with an almost animated feel and at times some great fuzz tone effects.

This record blends a slew of influences in indie rock music, and they put their spin on it with this vivacious approach and attitude.

This is the kind of record that you listen to and immediately want to go see the band perform live in your face.

It's very rare that you hear a track on record and immediately know that the band is going to be awesome in a live performance setting, but this is one of those records.

That energy and aesthetic is so addictive that you can't turn away from it.

The vocals always have robust approaches and match the energy level of the band, so everyone sort of thrives together.

Of course, you get elements of classic pop-punk to the likes of the Ramones, for example, and this blends in and lends quite a hand to the aesthetic that's given off on the record.

"Lipstick for the Boys" is a great example of exactly that.

One of my favorite tracks on this record is called "White Lies", and this is great because it provides this unique bopping sort of rhythm.

It's fun, it's got a great sort of garage-rock tonality to it, and you want to get up and dance around the room when you hear it.

This is one of the tracks that sticks with you for hours or even days after the song is ended, and the only way to satiate that is to go and listen to it again.

It's most certainly a record for people who love bands like The Strokes or Arctic Monkeys, but they also, again, give classic punk rock vibes, and I love that about this record.

There are a few surprises around the corners and some experimental tones as well, but, all in all, this is a really catchy pop-rock record that blends the pop, Indie, and garage rock together seamlessly.

I love how the vocals add that color to everything. The music is already quite bright and colorful and the entire band gives off such a thick presence but, the vocals really add this different layer and texture to the songs, not just because it has this fuzz tone effect on them a lot of the time, but more because it's bringing out addicting melodies almost all the time. Even throughout the verses, you get caught up in those vocal melodies.

I can't express enough how the bass guitar makes this record special. Those bass lines, and even just the tone of the instrument itself, and a little bit of edginess to the record, but also bring in a huge pop element.

These aren't baselines that just follow the guitars all the time.

They seriously help add the danceable factor to the songs, and I found it so refreshing that these guys were able to put together a record that clearly shines with some classic influences but also has some outside-the-box approaches in terms of the songwriting and vocals that are alive.

Again, this is definitely a record you hear and want to see them perform.

It just feels like they would put on a great show, and the excitable and vivacious approach of the record hits in such a welcoming way that listening to this record first thing in the morning can really set an amazing tone for the day.

This was an excellent, spirited, and slightly rambunctious indie rock record that any fans of the genre are going to fall for straight away.

Check this record out and don't be afraid to turn it up because by the second go around, you'll be singing right along.

Remember where you heard it first.
