A brand new banger from DA-MOVEMENT comes through with a damn near perfect blend of old and new school vibes. By pairing spacious undertones and vast synths with classic ones that you'd hear in '90s Midwest hip-hop tracks, the combination makes this song very unique. "24's" comes through in collaboration with Never of Crucial Conflict along with the legendary late Johnny P, and everyone involved just brings their A-game to the table. This release actually marks a massive milestone in music history because it is the very first time a member of Crucial Conflict has ever shared a track with Johnny P.
Not only are the beats and instrumental aspects of the track flawless, but they have a polished feel that still combines a little bit of authentic street hip-hop with that fresh new commercial-style approach, making it super radio-friendly. While it feels so urgent that you'd think they all tracked it at once in the studio feeding off each other's energy, "24's" is actually a legendary, unvaulted 16-year time capsule from a foundational 2010 studio session. The track is built on a beautiful beat produced by the late Chicago architect Jason Pamon, who sadly passed away from cancer in April 2026, making this record a permanent testament to his brilliance.
The track is riddled with widespread synths that have a bit of a vast style to them but still provide a little bit of edge. To make sure the production completely rattles modern sound systems, the 2010 master was resurrected with a pristine 2026 stereo mix by Rae Nimeh of United Technique. It was then given a cutting-edge Dolby Atmos spatial master engineered by two-time Grammy-winning mastering engineer Mike Tucci, marking the first time these Midwest innovators have ever been presented in immersive spatial audio. During the choruses, you have these horn sections blowing that bring out a different style of classic hip-hop but it works amazingly because it makes the song almost anthemic.
The flows are completely flawless. Everything is so smooth, and the way that the lyrical phrasing comes through bounces firmly between the beats, bringing together the R&B elements for a juicy hook but also telling an honest story with the rapping sections. Qraft kicks things off with a verse dripping with the historic "street-soul" culture of the Westside of Chicago, and DA-MOVEMENT founder Pompey "Pay" Hicks IV steps up to hold down the track with that authentic pimp flavor, heavily complemented by the signature adlibs of Johnny P. All of these guys are amazing storytellers. The lyricism is deeply detailed to the point where you can paint a picture in your head as the song unfolds and it's quite a relatable picture at that. I love how you have those hints of modern drill rap along with the gangster rap undertones, all telling these stories differently with each set of lyrics during each verse.
Everyone's got their own style and they each bring a different kind of liveliness to the track. The whole thing is completely vivacious, and the energy level is really where the power lies here. I really dig that vibe simply because it's infectious. That energy attacks you and you can feel it in your bones. Each verse has its own cadence to it, and shattering the concept of a gentle fade-out, Never of Crucial Conflict completely takes over the finale. That final verse is just whiplash fast and the lyrics are coming at you so quickly with that wild Westside energy that you want to listen to the song again after it's over just to pick up on everything as he reflects on moving from the analog roots of the streets into the digital age.
The hook is a massive one. That chorus has layers of melodies on top of each other along with great soulful overtones that are just belting out and giving you rich R&B tonalities. The hook is super memorable to the point where it's bouncing around in your head for long after the song has ended, and again, this is what makes it so radio-friendly. Listening to the track makes you want to go see them perform live simply because of the energy involved, along with wanting to be in the crowd actually singing along with that boisterous, hands-in-the-air chorus.
These guys know how to write, arrange and put together a song that is memorable and feels both fresh and familiar at the same time. This is a single with tons of character, and I think that's what you get attached to the most with DA-MOVEMENT. Yes, the rapping is slick and the chorus is huge but it's the attitude and the character along with the detailed storytelling that you end up letting wrap itself around you. This is for anyone who's a fan of old or new school Hip Hop, smart wrapping, unique lyrical phrasing and endless energy that really becomes quickly addictive. Absolutely don't miss out on this one and remember where you heard it first.
