NIGHTMARER Drops a Blistering EP

A new EP release from Nightmarer delivers a brutal and trudging blend of doom, thrash, speed, and blackened death metal, all put together into this one extensive release that hits with a blistering set of tonalities and deepening guitar riffs.

When you start listening to this record you could tell right off the bat that these guys have a love for their craft. Their passion for brutal metal is something that they hold very high and I love how they're able to bring together these different elements and subgenres of metal so you can really get a taste for a lot of their different influences.

The first track on the record, "Extinction Burst", wastes zero time coming right in with a sort of vast and almost orchestrated intro and then straight into high-octane speed thrash that is definitely blackened and has a thriving fierceness to it.

Aside from the searing guitar tones and deepening, powerful soundscape of the entire thing, the drumming is absolutely intense.

This is the kind of record where you can get tired just listening to the drummer.

About halfway through the track, things change pace a little bit, and you get more of a feel for the actual tones of the bass guitar and main guitars, and it's sort of dirty but has an old school, underground metal feel to it at the same time.

The vocalist pulls off a lot of growling that comes through completely guttural and matches the intensity of the instrumentation perfectly.

This is a great song to introduce the EP with because you're already grabbing on to certain staples that the rest of the release will deliver; however, as I said before, there are tracks on this record that sort of branch out and become more of a doom metal kind of feel, and it's all worth listening to as a whole.

"Crawl Of Time" is absolutely a track that breaks off into that doom feel. It's more widespread, it still has that deep, deep tone, and you can tell the guitars are tuned down, maybe to drop B or even drop C, but either way this one has a slower Pace.

It's more focused on creating this depth and vastness that you sort of get engulfed by.

I love both approaches. The speed, thrash, and death metal approach is searing and blistering, while the doom metal gives you a world to step into that you get swallowed up by.

Either way, you're getting an earful, and it's definitely something that showcases the band's ability to utilize those different influences and put them into play with their record.

The closing track of the record is probably my favorite. It is called "Hell Interface", which is also the title of the EP itself, and this track has a very unique time signature in terms of that drumming and augmented chords on those guitars, giving off this completely different feel but still staying consistent with the rest of the record.

I definitely love the fact that these guys could be experimental while still being true to the genres that they hold close to their hearts.

Being able to break off and create in a manner that has fewer boundaries set is really brilliant, and these guys definitely set their sights on creating something that was a little bit outside the box, but still really lovable for metalheads everywhere.

Their style and approach is a blend of classic and new school feels, and the energy level, even on the slower-paced songs, is completely through the roof.

This is the kind of record you listen to and immediately want to go see the band perform it live.

The way they're able to capture this kind of energy in a static on record is incredible, and I would definitely love to see this in a live performance setting, simply because it would be mind-boggling.

The vibrations from the depth and tonality of their instruments alone would cause the ground to shake beneath your feet, which is exactly what I would be hoping for.

So definitely check out Hell Interface as soon as you can and don't be afraid to turn it nice and loud because that's what it was meant for.

This is a heavy-hitting thrasher that delivers a lot more than what you first expect.

Remember where you heard it first.
