Kickstand Jenny Delivers A Heavy But Classic Rock Single with "Sunset Strip"

Kickstand Jenny returns with a banger of a rock single that beckons classic approaches but blends them into a much newer, slightly heavier feel, with an addictive riff that comes right in from the start, and driving, four on the floor style drums that just give the band a lot to push off of.
This track kicks right off with a description of a woman cruising the Sunset Strip and turning heads while doing so. It's edgy and has the perfect kind of attitude for displaying the sentiment that it does.
It's fun because it's a bit of a callback to classic metal, but it keeps things fresh, as I mentioned before. The lyrics are really what get you pulled into the song the most.
The detail is awesome, and when they burst into the sort of colorful, alternative, anthemic chorus, it's got the perfect energy.
I love how the riff bounces. It's got this great approach to it that feels jumpy and almost danceable, in a way.
There are all kinds of sections in the song, including this great line right before the chorus kicks in where he says "she pulls back the satin gloves to the wrist", and during that part you have active vocals where one is doing the low version of the same melody.
This is one of my favorite parts because the whole band sort of stops during those few seconds so you can hear exactly what he's saying.
Just after that, boom, the chorus kicks right in, and it's just massive.
The track is called "Sunset Strip".
You've got little tastes of lead guitars here and there that have extra melody and layers to them, and they're also different vocal approaches that open up a little bit more as the song rolls on.
Towards the end, you have all kinds of cool backing vocals that had a little bit more liveliness to the whole aesthetic, but all in all, this track boasts an absolutely amazing energy, and it blends that with the semi-vintage edginess to create a song that's got a hell of a hook.
One of the things I dig about this track is their attention to detail. They were really able to nail the aesthetic that they were going for. Again, this is a blend of classic sort of '80s and early '90s style metal, and a much newer alternative sound.
Because they were going for that classic feel, little elements like the reverb on the snare drum or the way the distortion feels on the guitars- all of that clicks like puzzle pieces.
It's it's certainly beckons albums like Dr Feelgood by Mötley Crüe.
It's a heavy track, but it's super fun.
I spent plenty of time on the Sunset Strip; even though it wasn't the '80s, I went there because I wanted to feel the vibe. It's such a legendary place where so many rock bands got their start.
When I got old enough, I went out to LA so I could be on the Sunset Strip and see what it was actually like.
I've seen many bands play the strip, and it's exactly what I thought it was going to be in my head.
Now, this wasn't the '80s, of course, but you can see the energy of the strip and feel it simply because of the history alone.
Kickstand Jenny really dropped this song almost like an ode to that time in that place. I really love this because you get that sensation when you listen to the song.
Again, this is about a woman cruising the strip, but it's back in the day. You can tell because they're talking about the hairspray and the leather gloves that she's wearing.
It's all a love letter to the Sunset Strip back in the day.
The vocals are really robust, but very melodically focused. It's got great hooks, but again that energy is really up there so it feels almost like a live performance, in a way.
This track follows 2025's "LIAR!!" which also comes through as a heavy rock single, but it's got a different approach. The vocals are a little bit more Soulful on this one, and the whole song has its own aesthetic.
I would suggest checking this track out as well, along with 2023's Between The Lies album, which is absolutely astounding.
The album is 10 tracks, and it's all killer, no filler.
You can actually hear some of the classic hard rock influence coming through on this record as well.
However, "Sunset Strip" goes all the way with that approach.
