Interview With Bleed The Victim

With a blistering new single Bleed The Victim brings out a threshing and brooding metal sound that takes on the form of destructive riffs, pounding drums, and an aesthetic that combines old and new school approaches to create something mosh worthy.

"Somatic" features outrageous guitar sections and the entire band displays technique and musicianship that gives everything a tightness but also a hell of a lot of attitude.

This is a purebred headbanger and everything about it makes you want to jump out of your seat and on to the desk, stick your fists in the air and start banging your head.

I'm not saying that's what I did, but that's what I might have done.

Layers of seamless guitar treasury bounce on top of each other and double kicks run amok throughout the course of this blitzkrieg of a single.

Vocals are absolutely Fierce and performed with a Fiery Heart and just the right amount of aggression while the band delivers a fistful of drudgery.

And this is just another normal day in the musical life of Bleed The Victim.

These guys really do a great job of combining several what you would call, subgenres I suppose together and in doing so create a somewhat unique and powerful sound.

You get elements of thrash, death, black, and melodic metal and with the new sections and the new riffs, you have hints at some of the classic bands that obviously influenced these guys as musicians.

Everything about this has gusto and a crazy energy that bleeds heart all over this track.

That's right, metal has heart and lots of it. People that aren't purebred metal fans sometimes don't get that. There's so much technical attribute and skill that goes into the performance of every element of a song like this one, but it still has to have heart to work.

These guys pull this song off pretty much perfectly and with its release we wanted to touch base with the band to find out where it came from, and what maybe next for them.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Let's kick things off with “Somatic”. This single had a huge feel to it and came through with a great metal energy! Where did this track come from?

Just like all of our songs we don't know where it comes from. The process just naturally happens. Some jams, it just clicks and we roll with it.

Buzz Slayers: When did this all start for you guys?

We've been jamming since 2010 in high school. When we had Summer breaks, our friend Tyler and his brother would come out to my brother and I's house to jam and that would become the start of BTV.

Buzz Slayers: What inspires you to write a song?

Bands we listen to and grew up on inspire us to write a good song. Heaviness and melody is what we strive for.

Buzz Slayers: This song has some great styles! Can you give us some of your top musical influences?

We started out as a thrash-based band writing songs that would be similar to bands like Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer. The first album we wrote was pure influence from what we were listening to. Throughout the years, we've been gradually finding our sound, especially adding groove elements to our songs.

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

Besides us all having day jobs, we go to concerts. My brother and Tyler like to play golf and Toby, our bass player, makes wooden flower pot designs that can be placed for pet memorialization.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

Probably a Bill Burr podcast. Music wise it's a whole bunch of mixed up stuff from classic rock to death metal, synthwave to Jim Croce.

Buzz Slayers: Are you guys doing any live performances right now?

We have a one off show booked in Lawrence, KS at the Replay Lounge February 17th, then we're hitting the studio.

Buzz Slayers: This single feels like a big undertaking, is there any advice you'd give to other up and coming bands out there?

Just try to write a good song. At the end of the day that's what matters. Everyone being locked in together on the same page; feeding off each other and bringing the best out of each member will always have great results.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

We are going to be in the studio again very soon to record an EP and that will have some cool footage as well. There's nothing yet on when a release date will be, but we also have shows later on in the summer at new places we've never been and we're pretty excited about that.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

We'd like to thank each and every one of you for the support and we can't wait to get the ball rolling and release new music to you this year!
