ava rose Delivers A Personal and Welcoming Album

ree

A New release from ava rose brings together such a warm and welcoming set of tonalities by blending Americana, folk, pop, and the heart of acoustic guitar come all rolled up into this sort of personal record that unfolds with lyrics that reach out and grab you half the time, because they can be spirited, again personal, or really descriptive.

This is an album that ava gives pieces of herself through, and I'm a fan of anyone who pulls that off the way she does it. It's got a lot of heart and a lot of honesty, but she also has a knack for storytelling with her songs and doing so with a spirited approach.

The record is called confessions, dreams, & unresolved feelings.

This is a very accurate title.

The warmth of the record comes from her sort of vivacious songwriting that again leans towards America and folk a lot of the time, but she has this beautiful vibrancy that captures a great pop sensibility throughout almost all of the release.

The record starts with "born to dream", which is an outstanding single to introduce the record with, because you are getting some of the amazing Staples that the full release will showcase.

The warm acoustic guitars, the pop overtones, influences of vintage songwriting and even tonality, live percussion, and a very particular way of putting you right there in the moment with the songs.

This is the song that opens the door for the record, and from there, the whole thing serves almost like chapters in the artist's life.

This is one of the reasons I would suggest listening to the entire record from start to finish. Some singles stand on their own two feet super well, but listening to the full album is the best way to go.

The whole thing is almost like reading a book. You wouldn't skip chapters in a book, so I wouldn't skip songs on this record either.

There are hints of a sort of '90s pop rock influence in some of the underbelly of the record as well. It's very acoustic-based, and is not a rock record, but you can sort of hear these elements in songs like "what's the meaning of life?", where you have a thriving acoustic guitar and a drum beat that leans more towards sort of classic grunge pop.

Sounds like this also showcases some of the cinematic undertones that come through here and there with synth pads that serve almost like strings, bringing up certain elements of intensity and depth in songs, and again, you're getting pulled into the lyrics and the storytelling quite a bit.

She is always coming from a personal perspective, but is amazing at delivering that and articulating the words so that they're relatable and linearly tell the story.

I definitely dig that because not only does it give you music that you can groove to, it has that pop sensibility attached, but it also has meaning behind it. The songs are very authentic and come from real places. This gives the whole album character and persona. This is a heavy-handed attribute that you end up getting attached to probably the most throughout the record.

A lot of this album feels almost like it was recorded live on the floor. That's what I meant when I said that the songs can put you in the moment with them. There's an energy that's very particular and unique across this release that makes it feel alive and breathing, in a sense.

Even if I'm wrong about the whole live on the floor recording thing, listening to the record certainly makes you want to go see her perform it live.

We also have songs like "mutual blunder", which are piano-based and almost have a theatrical approach that makes you think of artists like Elton John, for example

There are a lot of surprises around the corners throughout the full release, and one of them is probably my favorite track, which is actually the last track on the record called "who I am (outro)", because it's got such a different approach to the pop aspect. It has a lot of keys and synths that are used again, kind of like strings, and feels a little bit more orchestrated and put together in terms of giving a lusher soundscape.

This Rrecord offers a lot in the way of textures, tones, stories, and personality.

What's more, I'm going to have to suggest that you soak this in from start to finish, all in one shot, because then you're getting the full picture and everything that the album actually offers.

All in all, this came through as a beautiful record with heart, honesty, and a knack for bringing together personal attributes with pop overtones.

Dive into this one now and remember where you heard it first.
