A new single from Sherise breeds quite a bit of honesty in the form of a bright, colorful, and deep grooved, dance pop single with lots of cultural flair and plenty of drive.
The single features some amazing synthesizers that really do add some great textures to the song while bringing in a lot of that colorful approach, pop overtone, and vibrant aesthetic.
One of the things I love most about this track is that it is actually about rising up from a bad situation. It's about overcoming heartbreak and finding yourself again, putting yourself out there, and feeling amazing about it all.
This is definitely a song that boasts loads of personality, showcasing the fact that Sherise is someone who puts pieces of herself into her music, while still being able to give it that pop vibrancy.
"Funk Train" is a very good title for the track because it does bring on that element along with the dance, pop, and more. As I mentioned before, it's got loads of deep grooves, and the song is insanely danceable.
No matter where and how you listen to this track, you're going to start moving to it. If you're driving in the car, you're going to start shaking your butt in your seat. If you're at home, move the couch back so you can dance around the living room.
It's got that kind of vibe to it. A bright aesthetic and delivery throughout this entire thing makes it addictive, and it's amazing how she could put so much of that personality and truth into a song that makes you want to move this way.
She definitely doesn't hold back a lot, explaining how she has been heartbroken, and now she's back, hasn't gone through the motions, and realizes she is worth more.
I think this is a sentiment a lot of us can relate to, and I just like the way that she puts it in words lyrically throughout the track.
She's very straightforward about everything in terms of those lyrics, and our vocals provide this vivacious, semi-attitude-riddled approach that is inspirational, in a sense.
Sometimes when we're in a bad situation, we need a reminder. A song like this reminds us that we are worth more. It's okay, we're going to get through it, and we're going to come back better than ever.
This is the kind of sentiment the song provides for us, and it's got that fire behind it as well.
Being able to put a song out with this much honesty and character is amazing and speaks volumes for Sherise as an artist.
Her vocal performance is robust, to say the very least.
She really belts out when she wants to come and nails every note, and sings with a lot of heart. This is also part of why you can tell the song came from some genuine place.
The lyrics and the performance give you a sort of authentic undertone, and it's something that sticks with you for long after the song has ended.
It's all about not staying in the low. Forgetting whatever's going on and just getting out there to have a good time. Get out on the dance floor and boogie.
It feels good to listen to songs like this because it helps us remember that we're all human, and it's okay to let go of things that are holding us back or bringing us down.
The beat has a sort of '80s and '90s flair to it, as do the synthesizers. I love how she brings in this sort of vintage pop aesthetic to the mix because it feels even better.
You have this amazing sort of Madonna feel to it, and when I say that, I mean classic Madonna.
Perhaps this is one of her many influences. Either way, you can tell she does have a slew of pop influences under her belt that she holds dear to her heart, and a lot of them show face throughout the song.
This is a driving and charismatic single that showcases loads of charisma and just the right amount of attitude to get you hooked.
The chorus is super memorable, and the whole thing never loses its energy, which is probably one of the reasons it has the impact it does.
It takes a lot to put this kind of energy into a song and keep it held.
Sherise seems to have no problem doing it, as it feels like it's all completely natural to her as a singer.
Also, the melody she comes up with, even during the verses, are really addictive as well. A lot of the verse melodies actually stuck in my head the first time around.
So, all in all, this was a big track. It had the color and vibrancy, personality and honesty, along with heavy-handed grooves and pop overtones, bringing some classic '80s-style soundscapes and textures into the mix.
To me, it was all brilliant, and the song definitely still bounces around in my head a few days after the first time I heard it.
I'm sure it'll be the same for you.
Check this track out and don't be afraid to listen to it nice and Loud.
Remember where you heard it first.
