An Edgy And Driving New Single from Staytus

A brand new release from Staytus brings out a gritty and edgy crossover sound that takes elements of heavy-handed alternative rock and even grungy metal, and blends that into an industrial soundscape at times with fiery beats and throughout the entire thing you have a premise to the track that comes through with gory detail when it wants to.

"How To Be A Serial Killer" starts off with a deep and growling synth along with an electronic beat that gives it the element of drive, but things really pick up and explode from there.

The synth dies out for the first few lines of the verse, where it focuses just on vocals and beat, leaving the rest empty so you can pay attention to the lyrics and what the song is about.

This is creepy and a bit haunting, to say the least.

Once that's done, everything explodes into a furious, fuzz tone, sonically driving soundscape with a blisteringly heavy approach with both bass and guitar fully distorted and leaving a rumbling tone.

I love this because of how impactful this part was, and I also didn't quite expect it to explode in such a raw and driving way.

The song only grows from there and gets even more experimental and inventive in terms of its production without standing beats, and since that comes in and out along with the guitars and bass, giving everything such a full body approach.

The vocals are addicting, a bit sexy, aggressive, and really pack a punch, giving the song so much swagger and attitude, but also so much character at the same time.

I love a song that packs this much character in, and this track does exactly that.

The song sticks to that heavy industrial backbone throughout its course with layers of heaviness coming in and out in waves of intensity along with vocals that fill the space with melodies, harmonies, and haunts.

Not just the song, but this entire project is built with fewer boundaries than what you may be used to.

There are no walls built around this music, and the whole thing is free to speak its mind, and she certainly does exactly that, loud and clear.

This one has a heavy and almost cinematic feel, but those are kind of staples to the Staytus project as a whole.

The musical landscape of this project is always pushing boundaries as far as it can. You can tell there's a lot of attention to detail during the creation process, especially the production, because it's arranged and composed brilliantly, but still with a lot of heart and push.

After you listen to this track, I suggest going through some of the previous releases from the project because they're all pretty outstanding.

Staytus drops material that crosses over into her alternative pop with some dream-like or even, again, cinematic underbellies; it can be dirty, heavy, flowing, vast, or just pack a serious punch.

Either way, you're going to get something that's memorable, and that's what this is all about.

I love an artist, band, or project that is unafraid to speak their mind, push boundaries, and really just release music that they want to hear.

This project is very expressive and focuses more on sound architecture and creation then what sort of social expectations might come of it.

That is true artistry, and Staytus pours everything into how the music sounds in the end.

There's a lot of inner thought that comes out throughout these songs and if you listen through the catalog, you're in for a lot of amazing surprises.

Most certainly start with "How To Be A Serial Killer" and work your way back from there to really get a full grasp of what this is all about, and if you listen with headphones on, you can pick up on all the things happening in the background.

Either way, listen to it loud, and this track will absolutely get your blood pumping.

Remember where you heard it first
