An Album from Blac Kami Features a Blend of Hip-Hop Styles

A new album from Blac Kami delivers a soiree of classic, underground, and conscious hip hop that truly spans the spectrum of various influences and approaches in the genre that come together to breed a great level of honesty and personality that comes through with every single track on the release.

God Is Gangsta is the borderline genius record that is composed of outstanding lyrical phrasing that ranges and varies from track to track, showcasing the artist's ability to change up flows, patterns, and energies as the record unfolds.

The record wastes no time coming in with an amazing track called "Fake Humble", which does an excellent job of giving you an idea of some of the staples that are evident throughout the course of the album itself.

Not only do you have storytelling and honesty right up front, but you have description and personal viewpoints, so as the songs unfold, you're able to picture certain things in your head, and that connective element is always there throughout the record.

This is something that brings together that conscious hip hop vibe with a sort of vintage and old school style, and those two elements alone are something that creates an atmosphere that lets the album come through as something all its own.

Of course, there are plenty of other influences, as I mentioned earlier, including aspects of songwriting and lyric approaches that are outside the box, and it lets the record come through as a little experimental but still super catchy in a lot of ways.

One of my favorite tracks on the record is called "HER III". This track is one that shows a side of the record that gives you pieces of the artist himself as he talks about his past descriptions once again, and it all comes through with this bright and catchy approach.

This is the track that feels amazing to listen to, and once you get to this point of the record, you begin to expect a little bit of the unexpected.

Listening to only a few tracks from this album will not do. You might get an idea of some of the staples, like I said before, but you will not get the full spectrum of what the album has to offer as a whole.

There are plenty of surprises that come through both musically and lyrically, and a lot of this record is connected like these songs are actually chapters in the artist's life, and you're listening to those chapters in real time.

These are the attributes that let the record come through with personality and character. These are the elements you end up getting attached to throughout it all, and why, if you listen to the album from beginning to end, it's more of an experience than just a record.

There was a lot of attention paid to the details when it came to writing the lyrics to this record, which is something you can tell right from the get-go; however, no matter how much detail there was, the personality never goes anywhere.

It's been a while since I've heard a record with this much inner thought spilling out for all the soak in. There are so many stories to be told throughout this record, and they're done in such animated and different ways that you're almost always surprised at what you're hearing.

This is an ode to classic hip-hop and underground hip-hop as well. These tracks feel like that perfect crossover between vintage mainstream hip hop and a sort of '90s or early 2000s underground style, where there's a tiny hint of lo-fi in the aesthetic of it, only making it more personal.

Definitely give this record to listen all the way through in one shot because it's well worth it.

This is a record with depth, layers, charisma, and truth.

Remember where you heard it first.
