A fresh release from TruTone and Frank Zozky delivers a massive and sort of intense blend of electronic fusion that manages to bring together elements of house, dubstep, trap, break, and more, all in one track that displays such an excitable and almost rambunctious soundscape and brings on massive Sonic drive.
"Passion For Pain" is it pretty brilliant track simply for the fact that it blends all of those together and still comes through with a sort of mix between heavy-handed energy and this glitchy production approach that showcases producers and artists that can build something unique and do it with fewer boundaries than what you may be used to.
This single goes through some incredible changes and does all of them in just about 3 minutes. The song sounds so much longer than that because of all the phases that actually play out.
They are all kinds of amazing samples, vocals both male and female, some classic undertones that you would hear in a late-night club. Electronic music, elements of house and EDM coming into play here and there, and are sort of peppered in there, but it's really just something that goes its own direction.
The arrangement of this is brilliant, and the way that they go into each different change is also intense. It's expertly done but also has an element of experimentation flowing throughout its veins so that by the time you get halfway through the song, you kind of expect the unexpected, to an extent.
I absolutely adored this because this track kept me on my toes the entire time.
The synth work, especially the dubstep sections, was heavy. All of this was bountiful, and the synth tones and textures fell together like puzzle pieces and felt robust a lot of the time.
I love how futuristic this came through. It was almost like listening to a Science Fiction soundtrack of some kind.
A lot of the synth work was pushed to its limits, but it felt awesome to jam out with.
You can hear elements of classic influences here and there, but really, this was definitely a futuristic track that kind of blew me away. The level of edginess and inventive approaches to how it was built and put together we're outstanding.
This is the kind of track you listen to loud. It's harder that way and was meant to hit hard, believe me.
I certainly dig how they put in these vocals to give the song a little extra depth. The other thing is that although there's a lot of heavy synths, even throughout a lot of the dubstep stuff, there is this vast undertone to the entire thing.
The single boasts those layers and was able to combine the textural elements of the synthesizers and keys, vocals, and beats so that it came through hard, but it always had that spacious feel lurking just beneath the surface.
Perhaps this was due to elements of reverb effect on some of the instrumentation.
Those kinds of things made the track feel a little bit cinematic, also. This whole thing hits like whiplash. It's like a sucker punch to the gut. Just because you wanted to hear certain parts of the song again.
These guys came together to create something that absolutely takes its own direction and was built without walls around it. A lot of attention was paid to the tones of those instruments. The tonality of the synthesizers themselves, along with the overall mix and how that kick drum in the beat cuts through everything, all play their part in the final product, and this is why the aesthetic is so good.
This whole thing was super satisfying.
Either listen to this track at a high volume or put on headphones to do it, because then you'll be able to pick up on some of that vast underbelly I was mentioning earlier, but also follow those brilliant changeovers and how they were able to make those transitions flow in such a unique fashion.
Both of these producers and artists understood the mission and obviously have a real love for their craft, along with the same level of love for the genres of dubstep and trap specifically.
Don't miss this one.
