The latest from ALTERJOY is a driving and colorful yet edgy electronic and synth-pop banger and it comes along with such a lush undertone that combines this old-school and new-school approach so that you get elements of vintage pop with a much fresher and current style as well all rolled into one fat track that hits beautifully.
"ren(ai)saance" comes in with that classic approach and the whole song gives off this very vast kind of undertone so that you get wrapped up and it really quickly but it also has a lot of drive on the Forefront and a pop coating that leaves everything feeling polished but still with this raw energy to it as well.
The track features Mac Shaye and this was definitely a great collaboration because I feel like everyone involved nailed the aesthetic of what this track was supposed to put forth.
There's something slightly post-apocalyptic feeling about it and it's just bursting with these colors that come out at you from all directions.
The synth and key textures and tones are perfectly done and those are the kinds of elements that help the aesthetic of the song come through with shining colors.
The beat is also this sort of classic synthwave beat and the whole vibe of the track lets you sort of escape into it for a moment.
There's also this energy about the song that compliments the music itself as well. The vocals are well executed especially because they match the energy of the song perfectly.
The texture of the vocals along with the synths and the keys works as well because all the vocal sections have a little bit of swagger to them and a lot of them belt out loud so you have this kind of cry out about the song that makes it a little bit righteous and a little bit edgy which comes with the territory.
For me, I got those little bits of nostalgia here and there because I love synthwave music in general and this project took much influence from the genre but they were able to bend it into other things as well and you can hear certain influences throughout the song.
It was very driving and hit with the exact kind of depth and strength that it needed to.
The production is outstanding because it's got a little bit of polish to it so it sounds really crisp and big but it also has that raw energy to it and a little bit of again, that vintage feel so nothing is over the top but it's all dynamically balanced perfectly.
This was definitely a lot of fun and something that I can listen to over and over again and never get bored.
You can tell that the production of the song was done with a certain kind of precision and not without attention to detail but that doesn't get in the way of the sort of heart that the song delivers as well and the drive that it puts forth.
You can dance to this track, but you can also head bang to it in a way.
This is the kind of song I wish I had on actual cassette tape because it fits that aesthetic.
Yes, I'm old and have a cassette player but you know what, if it wasn't for the synthwave music of the '80s and early '90s this kind of stuff would never exist.
It's like a soundtrack and if you go out for a walk listening to this song your perspective will change.
I love that kind of music if it's done right and it's definitely done right here.
Check this one out, pop on some headphones to do it, and turn it up because it's super worth it.
