A Veteran Rock Writer Stumbles Onto ALBORN

Every once in a while, after decades of covering rock bands, a track lands in your inbox that stops you mid-snooze.
For me this week, that track was Devil’s Dance from ALBORN. I’ll admit it, I clicked play expecting another competent modern rock single and instead got something that flat-out slams. The energy hits immediately, the groove pulls you in, and by the time the track opens up into its unexpected textures, you realize this isn’t just another loud rock release. That kind of surprise doesn’t happen very often anymore.
A quick look at what the band has been doing lately suggests I’m late to the party. ALBORN appear to have been on a steady run of strong releases, and “Devil’s Dance” feels less like a lucky swing and more like the latest step in a band finding its lane. It’s the kind of track that sends a writer back through a band’s catalog to see what else has been flying under the radar.
ALBORN is heading into a busy year on the road, joining Silvertung for Midwest dates on the No Filter Tour before heading east for The Whiskey & Wreckage Tour alongside Devil’s Cut. Festival appearances include the Blazing Summer Music Festival and a slot at Rock Fest, one of the biggest rock gatherings in the Midwest each summer.
But before worrying about the tour schedule, I’ve got some homework to do. If “Devil’s Dance” is any indication, ALBORN have been quietly building a catalog worth exploring — and I suspect I won’t be the only listener digging into their back catalogue after hearing this one.
Consider this a recommendation from an aging rock writer who’s heard a lot of music: start with “Devil’s Dance,” then see where the rabbit hole goes.
