A New Single from Vernons Future Hits Home

A new release from Vernons Future comes through with a very warm tonality and a classic rock influence that helps give the song an expansive feel but it's this honesty that really gets you because the song is about life itself. Growing older call me your relationship with friends, and all the things that come with it.

"Waxwings" has a wonderful way of getting your attention not only musically, but lyrically as it is so incredibly relatable to so many.

The way it all describes getting older, realizing how special the times were that you've had and how those times are harder to come across later in life as there is so much life to get in the way.

This is a beautifully articulated topic here and the metaphors used to describe all of this are perfect.

The song is musically welcoming with beautifully floating guitar sections and melodies that catch your ear and stick with you for long periods.

All the hooks guitar-wise are progressively melodic and catchy because the song itself does have this sort of warm pop overcoat and that's something that I enjoy very much about it.

You find that a lot of the guitar hooks on the track are just as catchy as the chorus and the vocal sections a lot of the time.

This does have a genuine classic rock vibe but it blends into indie and contemporary quite well with hints of contemporary in its underbelly but it all comes together with a certain color and vibe that gets you attached and makes you want even more when it's over.

When you listen to this track you can't help but have memories of your own sort of pop into your head at random and of course that's all due to the lyrics but it also gives you a strangely nostalgic feel and this is something you don't come across often so when you do come across it it's very refreshing.

This track was recorded at Glass House Studios in Denham and they wisely shot a video around this so that you can see them performing it live in the studio, and this is something that didn't surprise me a lot because when you listen to the song it does give off the vibe of a live performance.

What I found enticing was how they put in clips of the group of them sort of just sauntering around and having fun. A group of friends who get together to make music as often as they can. Knowing that those times are possibly getting fewer and far between.

This, in itself, helps push the premise and point of the song as well, but it also gives you a visual to go with it and it makes total sense.

I love the song's tonality and how the aesthetic came through how it was meant to. It was meant to feel nostalgic and appreciative.

This is a single that really has quite a beautiful sentiment and it's something that when people listen to it they can understand and relate to it to the point where they think of their own people and that makes some of us feel less alone in knowing how life works and how we can't help but see our friends a little bit less to me used to.

That's how I took it anyway. Maybe it's a little bit less existential than that in reality. But, I love taking it this way because as I mentioned earlier, it makes perfect sense to me as a grown man going through the same thing and having some of the same feelings this song lets me feel a little bit less alone in them like other people understand.

Of course, I don't know how to articulate that into music or words but, I'm glad others do.

An absolutely authentic single from Vernons Future.

This is more than worth your time and we've popped the video below so you can check it out as well this way you can see exactly what I'm saying.

Remember where you heard it first.
