A new single release from Swonk gives off a radio-friendly and super smooth R&B Style with a vast undertone and hints of edginess here and there that peek through and give the song this swelling and swaying feeling almost like it's alive and breathing.
"500 Degrees" certainly comes from a place of honesty and if you really listen to the lyrics you can tell that the track is actually emotionally driven to a certain extent but you also have this great atmosphere musically that you fall right into that lays just beneath these addictive vocals that deliver melodies and hooks that stick in your brain for hours or even days after the song has ended.
One of my favorite aspects about this track is how it blends genres together because you get this almost ethereal and silky R&B track with great beats and synth pads that fill the space and float through the ether of the track, but you also have a great guitar solo in there along with this sort of build in intensity.
This track was done in collaboration with szn.wav and if you ask me, it was a brilliant idea because these two can produce a song that has impact and breeds as much color as it does edginess but all with this robust sort of character which is something that never leaves and that you're able to attach yourself to right from the start.
All the elements of this song have a way of complimenting each other and they do indeed create that atmosphere that pulls you away from your surroundings and puts you in a different place for a little chunk of time and that to me is a gift musically.
To be able to escape into a song the way you can this one is amazing, and it felt good to do.
This track has a cinematic backbone to me, and you can hear it in the scene of a film or a TV show easily because it's got that vastness in its undertone and that's something that creates a mood and a vibe.
I love how at times some of the vocals are just used as instruments creating additional melodies that layer onto the song and give it even more depth but the whole thing is constructed and wonderfully woven with this sort of soul.
It is completely refreshing to hear a track that blends old-school and new-school approaches because it really works with this track in particular.
This is a single that was built and put together with a lot of attention to detail but throughout all of that it never loses that character or that Soul which may be the most important part of the whole thing.
This is an R&B Banger that's got a robust feel to it, but it's done in this subtle way so that it grows on you.
