A double single release from CMMNWLTH brings out a lush and flowing indie rock approach that edges on a dream rock sort of vibe with floating guitar sections that build an atmosphere for the songs and a certain character that's evident and welcoming throughout the release.
The first of the two singles is dubbed "Impatient" and boasts a catchy style while the textures of the song have a unique way of flowing in and out of each other and blending which really gives the song the sort of alive and breathing feel that's very enjoyable and addictive.
You can also hear that cinematic backbone in the track as well as if you can hear it in a film for sure.
One of the things I loved about this track itself was the balance of energy throughout it and how it does have this beautifully smooth and lush and forward-moving flow that lets you get washed away with its soundscape.
I also really enjoyed the fact that the song can grow in intensity towards the end of the song which was really exciting and fun.
This aspect showcases the band's ability to create a certain kind of arrangement that lets the song engulf you and take you to places you didn't think it would.
The second of the two singles is called "Dreams" and rightfully so since the track does have that silky and floating feel to it with guitars that hover around in the song's ether and a tremolo over the vocals that also let them feel like they're there but not there at the same time.
Again, the intensity levels swell and sway throughout this track and the addition of other guitar sections and parts of the song that pop in and out make it feel alive.
This is my favorite of the two because it has more of a grunge and alternative rock sort of feel to it but with a lot of color which is a sort of staple for the band's sound in general.
It's that character that keeps you there and makes you want more and more because this is the aspect that pulls you in.
You can also tell these guys absolutely love what they do while they're doing it even which you can certainly hear on the tracks themselves.
Some of these melodies and hooks are very addicting so much so that you can hear them in your head for hours after the songs have ended.
This is awesome simply because the only way to satiate that is to go back and listen to them again.
You could dub this is just plain old smart songwriting, but I think this comes to these guys naturally.
A very unique flow and approach to songwriting and delivery throughout this double single gives you a great idea of where these guys are coming from and their presence as a band as well to the point where you know you want to see them live after listening to these.
I would suggest driving into this release as soon as you can and swim through these songs because it feels great to do so.
