A Beautifully Woven SIngle from REXEN

A brand new single from Rexen brings out a combination of minimalist and lush soundscapes by bringing together a 90s undertone with a classic style beat, along with smooth and flowy vocals, but also adding in things like string sections that thicken up the atmosphere and make everything sound beautiful.

"My Heart" dips into hints of existentialism, and it's a track that can really make you think if you really listen to the lyrics.

You can hear that there's plenty of emotion behind this track in terms of the writing, especially, and it comes through with this robust sort of character, even though the music has a very mellow effect.

One of the things I love about this track is its subtlety. It has such great instrumentation, but none of it's overwhelming.

That beat and percussion is the driving point of the song and gives it its groove, but also helps fill that space with more, so you have this track that has plenty going on but not so much where you're losing touch with the lyrics.

The vocals are outstanding, and I love how they're double-tracked and held out. A lot of these notes are held out throughout several bars, and at times it feels almost like the vocals are used as instruments themselves.

Those string sections really provide something gorgeous for the song. The strings make things feel flowy and help build some of that emotional backbone the song gives off in the first place.

You can tell that this is influenced by some classic sort of 90s underground pop-style tracks.

It's a crossover of what some would call dream or bedroom pop, and a hint of alternative because it's got that 90s edge and it's underbelly, but it has messaging to it, and that I think is what gives it that character.

There are hints of loneliness and a slight sullenness throughout this track, and that just comes from the honesty and how he portrays the inner thoughts that he's having, and I feel like it's connected because of things like this.

There's definitely an understanding and relatability to this track that certain people will get attached to, especially if they pay attention to those lyrics.

For me, the combination of a slightly dark or stolen undertone and that '90s influenced pop groove really creates a combination that gives me little bouts of nostalgia here and there, but really also has a refreshing approach as well.

This was a unique single and speaks volumes for the artist because he was able to express himself very particularly here and also give a song that felt Lush and meaningful, A little vulnerable and melodically beautiful.

The Danish singer, performer, and composer can bring culturally thriving sounds to the table, letting a song have that deeper meaning, but also bringing some color to the music.

For anyone who grew up in the '90s and loved some of those sorts of underground '90s alternative pop sounds, this song will certainly strike a chord.

You can clearly hear those influences shining through, and it's something that I attached to because that aesthetic was nailed throughout this song.

As far as I can tell, this track is a bit of a hint to an upcoming album set to be released sometime next year and produced by Silas Tinglef while being mixed by John Parrish, most known for his work with PJ Harvey and Sparklehorse.

Again, you have to be sort of a 90s child to know who these groups are, and if you don't, then check them out because they're well worth your time.

If it wasn't for groups like that, REXEN might be totally different or might not even exist.

It's always important to understand the things that influence the music that is coming out now.

This was a wonderfully created atmosphere that pulled me right in and kept me floating right alongside the track both musically and lyrically.

I think it'll do the same for you, so give this a listen with some headphones on because it's the best way to do it, and remember where you heard it first.
