Until Dusk Fades returns with a blistering new single that has a beautiful combination of gracefulness, emotion, orchestration, and fierce, fiery tonalities, and it comes together like puzzle pieces so incredibly well that you find yourself getting drawn into everything.
"Crawl" is a track that starts with an orchestrated set of instruments that give off a very cinematic or even theatrical backbone, and this leads into all the heaviness.
This track has a death or blackened metal sort of feel to it, but it goes beyond those boundaries.
There are all kinds of elements in this track that are used as percussion and Melody, so there is a lot of sound sculpting and shaping going on.
I feel like this is part of the beauty of this track. Again, there is this gracefulness and forward-moving flow that lurks beneath the surface of all the edginess, and I love the combination of those two elements.
The way it hits so hard and has such a fierceness to it, but also how graceful it comes through at the same time, is really intense in a way.
Although certain guitars and instruments are used to push that metal approach, there are other guitar lines that float through the track's ether of the track giving it this spacious and ambient undertone, which I absolutely loved because you're able to really feel the vastness in this song.
Some of the heavier elements include the drumming. The drumming is absolutely brutal here and provides the drive and push that the song needed to give it the heavy-handed energy to go along with everything else.
There are also keys and bells throughout the track that add more depth to it and give it even more of a cinematic flavor, but the whole thing has a bit of a theme to it and that dark edginess is sort of looming.
I definitely love tracks that experiment the way this one does.
This is a song that is built with far fewer boundaries than what you may be used to and combines approaches so seamlessly that you have one fused piece of music that comes through with an intense energy and again, that emotion that also pushes boundaries.
One of the most gripping elements about this wonderfully orchestrated but incredibly heavy track is the vocals. The vocals are absolutely on fire and provide this almost grueling wanting death metal style, which feels powerful, aggressive, and has a way of grabbing you.
All in all, this was an amazing combination of soundscapes, approaches, and influences, and it was put together with such attention to detail that it has an incredible sonic presence.
Until Dusk Fades is helmed by Carli Zakk, who definitely doesn't hold back in terms of lyrics or approaches, is able to put together a song that has its own atmosphere and hints of vulnerability, and does it in a way that is relatable and, again, very intense.
Now, we're no strangers to this project and can certainly tell you that this is an amazing direction to be taking, and just the way things come through with such destructive beauty is incredibly memorable.
This single speaks volumes for the entire project and definitely breaks down walls in terms of the soundscape, in particular.
After you check this out you should most certainly take a dip into some previous releases including the Behind Closed Doors EP and the "Invasion" single.
This way, you can get even more of a grasp on the soundscapes and approaches that this whole thing provides.
For me, "Crawl" Takes the Cake and definitely gets me excited to hear whatever comes next.
