A Killer New Single From Blacklist Union

The return of Blacklist Union is quite a massive one, as they just dropped an absolute banger that wastes zero time hitting you with fiery, attitude-riddled guitar riffs that drive the song through the roof, along with their classic, insatiable energy that almost always beckons a bit of a live performance-style aesthetic. All of these aspects are rolled into this sort of anthemic powerhouse of a single, and for me, I feel like this speaks volumes for the band and how they're able to grab you with intensity and still give you a song that portrays a message that a lot of us can relate to.
"Heavy Is The Crown" can be taken a few different ways when it comes to interpretation. For me, the track revolves more around how you go through different kinds of struggles, and things might be looking grim or dark, but sometimes that happens closest to your most triumphant moments.
Heavy is the crown as a classic statement, and in this track, it revolves around how you need to push through so that you can be the person you're supposed to be.
Again, it can be taken a few different ways. I interpreted it this way because it made the most sense to me. That's what spoke to me from the lyrics.
Others may pick up on different aspects of the song that speak differently to them. This is part of the beauty of songs like this anyway.
Now, as I mentioned earlier, the song kicks right in with this massive riff, and it definitely is a brilliant one that blends this almost classic hard rock sort of vibe with a much heavier alternative and almost metal feel.
The drummer kicks in with insane energy, and between the bass guitarist, guitarist, and drummer, you can really start to feel the synergy flowing. These guys click naturally, probably because they've been doing it for so long, but either way, you feel that in the song itself.
This is a track where you can actually feel the fire.
The vocalist is always doing things to sort of balance things out and bring on a sort of character into the song.
He's outstanding at storytelling and really portraying that character in a particular way. He helps you paint a picture as the song plays through, and I find that borderline brilliant.
This track has a great chorus that definitely feels like a sing-along kind of section, but again, it's really powerful, packed full, and even a bit filmic.
This is a track that's got depth, layers, closed-fisted elements of aggression, but also involves other emotion and layers of honesty that come through lyrically and in the vocal performance itself.
The whole tonality of the song reads that fire. It's not just one instrument or the vocals. It's how they come together and are able to drive each other so that you have a sound that rises up. You can even feel that sort of spirited undertone when you listen to the song.
Again, for me, the riff showcases the power that you need to be able to push through the hard parts or darkest parts of life.
So, when I listen to the song, the energy and instrumentation behind it and the performances that are given really line up with the vocals and the lyrics.
The singer definitely is great at holding out these melodies and stretching notes across several bars so that it just feels engulfing.
I have become quite a fan of this band. Being privileged enough to have reviewed several other releases and really heard them evolve, it's been really cool to listen to a band that is really able to branch out but still stick to their guns all at once.
This track is a perfect example, simply because it's hard-edged, alternative, super driving, and hits with that level of aggression that's not over the top but perfectly done so that the song remains catchy. And again, they still display a sentiment that makes sense to a lot of us.
This was a stand-up rock single that lets you feel how the band is thriving at the moment.
Of course, this comes with a new music video, and it is awesome. They just dropped the music video and put in so much live performance footage.
You see a lot of them on stage performing the song, and it's shot really well, but most importantly, it displays a lot of their charisma and action.
I would definitely check out the video the first time you listen to the track. It's outstanding.
So, take a deep dive into this one, turn it up, and you'll be singing along in no time.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention there's an amazing bridge section in this track as well. One that's kind of unexpected and serves as a bit of a surprise, but works in an almost theatrical sense.
Okay, I'm not giving any more away. It's time to go and listen.
Remember where you heard it first.
