TV Generation Delivers a Huge Live Punk Record

Writer: BuzzSlayersBuzzSlayers

A fresh album release from TV Generation hits with a righteous punk rock attitude and approach, all with a massive energy that comes together perfectly because it's a live album. The raw impact that the songs have comes through so strongly because the whole band is right there in the moment, which is something you can really feel throughout the unfolding of this record.

The album is called Dead Alive, and it runs the gambit of punk rock tonalities in a soiree of anthemic choruses and memorable riffs that hit hard and have punch but blend that classic punk rock color and edginess perfectly.

This is a record that does indeed put you right there in the moment, and because of that, the songs just simply hit harder. The performance is awesome across the board. It's not perfect but it's damn near.

The tonality of the whole thing comes through amazingly. The bass guitar tone alone has that classic and almost vintage punk rock feel that helps drive the band and bring those thick melodies into place.

The guitars are hard and heavy with classic riffs and plenty of overdrive to go along with the drumming that pushes the whole thing to a place where you can feel that heavy energy in the air.

The vocal performance is actually pretty damn outstanding.

There is a robustness to the vocals that makes you want to put your fists in the air and sing right along with some of those big anthemic choruses.

The whole thing rings true with all the best elements of punk rock right there in your face, and because it's a live record, it has a way of pulling you in even more.

Sometimes, you hear a track on a record, and you feel like that band is going to be awesome to see live. But you still kind of never know.

When you listen to this record, you know what they sound like live, and it's outstanding. They bring it and deliver everything you would expect and more from a great punk rock show.

Amongst all the live energy and vivaciousness, you have tons of pop-coated catchiness as well.

There are musical and vocal hooks left and right throughout the course of this release, and all the songs have a certain flow to them.

Again, they bring a lot of color to this set of songs, and it has a bit of a youthful cry out, which is a classic part of punk music anyway.

The whole thing wastes no time at all coming in with the first track called "Billy's Song", and you can feel that energy right from the get-go.

The vocals are just belting, and there's a bit of aggression in there. You can feel the power of them in the air, and it's also an amazing first track on the record. Or, I should say, the first song to start the set with.

Either way, this track introduces you to what you can expect more of from the album.

Now, there are surprises around the corners of the record, but it still delivers everything that you would expect from a record like this one, including tracks like TV generated, which is one of my absolute favorites on the album.

This is an example of a song that shows how the band can really thrive in terms of crossing over vintage and old-school punk with a newer feel.

I love hearing some of these songs because you can really catch some of those classic punk influences in different songs.

It's been quite some time since I've heard such a driving and fun record. This is an album you want to sing along with and jump around the room to, and it feels like you just saw this show yourself when the record's over.

It's a great escape and something that any true punk rock fan would absolutely love.

Once again, in true punk fashion, a lot of these songs are quick bangers that hit hard and then shove off. The whole record is technically 7 tracks and spans about 18 minutes in length.

Don't try and tell me you don't have the time to listen to this kick ass punk rock record.

Growing up listening to all different kinds of punk rock from Minor Threat and black flag to Rancid and Pennywise, this hit all the marks.

I feel like I've missed out on these guys, but I'm certainly glad to have caught them now.

If you're not yet familiar with the sounds of TV Generation, then let this be your introduction. I would say that this live album is one of the best ways to jump right in.

Now, after that, you should certainly check out the Cheap Times album from 2022  because it's a ridiculously good record. Songs like "TV Generated" come from that album.

So, once you hear this live recording, you can go back and catch a bunch of these songs from their originally recorded versions.

Believe me, the energy is still there.

At any rate, dive into this one, push your fists in the air, and remember where you heard it first.
