A single release from Todd Barrow delivers a classic country soul and a robust songwriting approach with an arrangement that lets the song sort of breathe during the verses and then explode into these memorable choruses that end up bouncing around in your head for hours after the song is ended.
"Jungle Out There" is indeed a sort of instant classic in a way and when it does get stuck in your head, when you start humming the chorus melody without even realizing it, the way to satiate that is to go and listen to the song again.
There's something a little bit vintage and a little bit classic and almost rustic about the soundscape of this track and how this is a real deal southern rock, country, and Americana-infused love song and it feels colorful, vibrant, and vivacious.
There are a few things about this track that really reached out and grabbed me and one of those is the energy level because it's completely electric and almost feels like it's a live performance where they all went to the studio and recorded it in a way that lets them feed off of each other's energy is the entire time.
This is one of the more infectious aspects of the track because it does have a little bit of an anthemic, and Todd did an outstanding job composing and writing lyrics for this one because I love this sort of old-school and almost raw take on a love song which is in true country style indeed.
The guitar work is stellar, and you get a great solo before the last chorus hits, and this brings us back to the arrangement of the song being so well done.
This whole track has such a forward-moving flow to it that it seems to be over quickly, and this also makes you want to play it again.
You can tell Todd has a natural knack for writing songs that have heart, and soul, and come from someplace that's a combination of realness and just knowing how to write a song that's got massive hooks in it, and that combination works extremely well here.
You can tell that this is an artist who has a real love for the craft and when I say that I don't just mean playing guitar or singing, I mean writing songs to put out to the world so that people can relate to them, dance to them, sing along with them, and feel good.
This track feels like a country rock song that you've been listening to on the radio for years now because it's got a little bit of a timeless feel to it. It doesn't feel super old school, but it could have been released in the 90s up until now and still make perfect sense.
You can certainly hear some of those classic country influences shining through in this song.
The song is bright, shows loads of charisma, and comes through with this personality and character that you end up getting really attached to right from the start.
It certainly feels like Todd Barrow has hit all the sweet spots that you could possibly want from any major country song out there.
If you're a fan of fun, colorful, honest, country rock music, then this track is 100% for you.
You will absolutely find yourself singing right along with that chorus by the second or third time around.
Take a deep dive into this one and don't be afraid to turn it up.
Remember where you heard it first.
