Dustin Ransom with The Neighbors & Gabe Dixon just dropped a new track that has an almost spiritual backbone, breaks free from genre norms, and becomes incredibly inspiring, honest, and on top of all that, danceable.
"Two Animals" track is about connecting with elements of your inner self, spirit animal, and being able to understand certain aspects of the raw and powerful side of that.
It's a song that showcases the type of persona that we can portray, telling ourselves certain things, connecting with deeper elements of our identities, and letting all of that play out without interruption.
It's a very interesting approach and a topic that takes a certain kind of person to delve into the way that Dustin does it.
He can be descriptive with his lyrical approach, and I feel like it's something that comes to him naturally.
This is a lush single with some incredible instrumental approaches to it.
One of the most impressive aspects of the whole thing is the bass guitar line. This thing walks, gives a bit of funk, and adds even more soul to the already robust sound the track delivers, as a whole.
There are also some great guitars in there, along with piano as a key instrument of drive, bringing the song a lively, vibrant feel that goes right along with the intensity of the singing.
There is something hard-hitting about this track. It's got a hidden edginess to it that you can't quite put your finger on, but you know it's there. It's loud, in-your-face, and loads of fun, but there is an energy that is completely thriving throughout this track.
This is just one part of why the song is a bit irresistible. You want to turn it up as soon as you start hearing the jam. The way the instruments jive together is really something to be heard.
The way the drummer follows the intricate parts of the song is also really cool. That kick drum follows some of the baselines even on the small, in-between sections, giving unique time signatures and really incredible transitions into the next parts.
You can tell there was plenty of thought put into the arrangement of this track, but nothing compares to the actual performance of it all.
Dustin is above and beyond, giving genuine performances that are rich and resilient the entire time.
Are parts of the song that bring in strings that are very orchestrated and hint at a cinematic undertone, which I really enjoyed as well, and it just feels like such a hearty piece of work with everything going on.
The choruses are walloping and can feel almost anthemic because of how he thinks, especially.
This is kind of like a blend between soul-pop and indie rock, with other styles peppered in, so it's got its own vibe, but it's very radio-friendly.
It definitely feels like the kind of song that would be on any major radio station at any given time these days.
One of my favorite things about it is that everything is natural. It's all natural instrumentation. As far as I can tell, none of it is digital. The strings are real, the keys are real, and everything just feels textually together because of it.
Now, as far as I can tell, this is a glimpse of the upcoming record, Brothers.
I'm not exactly sure when that record is set to drop, but I do hope there are a few more singles while I wait, because now I'm very curious to hear what other songs from this record may sound like.
This song definitely symbolizes relationship-based themes, but not in the traditional sense. It's more of a relationship with oneself, and it's a brilliant theme to explore.
I'm not sure I've heard a song focused on anything like this before, and it really felt good to listen to.
This was a spirited piece of work that hit exactly the way it was meant to.
As I said, there should be more on the way, but this song will keep me at Bay.
It's definitely not a song you should be missing out on.
