A long-awaited full-length album just dropped from The Transits gives you everything that you would expect and more from the band as they roll straight in with a banger as the introductory track and the party doesn't stop from there either.
The self-titled LP is pretty much brimming with hooks and courses that make you want to jump around the living room and sing along at the top of your lungs as the record gives off everything from pop-punk to edgy alternative rock and all kinds of surprises around the corner as well all done with that classic character that gives you nostalgic feelings at times and gives you straight up drive others.
The record boasts dark edges and bright openings both of which have their catchier elements and are super full-bodied, and as I've said before in terms of the staple sounds of The Transits, these guys just have a huge and anthemic approach to their songwriting and so when it gets to that chorus it just explodes into something that doesn't escape your brain.
Some of these songs have cinematic approaches while others are straight rock bangers that just hit with high-octane performance and energy that doesn't let up but no matter which you get you always get something a little bit unexpected by the time you think you know what you can expect.
This is one of my favorite aspects about the whole record because you still have these awesome moments during the tracks and even though you haven't heard the next song yet, you just want to start this one over real quick so that you can catch all of that again. This is part of the fun of this album.
They pull off everything that you would want and expect from a band of seasoned musicians who have no problem writing youthful and driving songs and so the combination of those two things let the record pack a punch.
Sometimes that punch comes when you least expect it and that's the kind of thing that I love.
The band has no problem incorporating all of their different influences into different parts of songs, and so you get elements of post-punk, punk rock, classic rock, metal, alternative rock, garage rock, and even grunge here and there peeks its fuzzy little head through and having that much influence rolled into one record makes it feel eclectic but still keeps to that feel the band manages to hold on to throughout its course.
You will walk away from this record singing parts allowed or having riffs stuck in your head without question and these are the attributes of a really good alternative rock record that knows how to push boundaries but also knows how to make things memorable.
If this is the first year hearing of the transits, then make sure you dig a little deeper into the band because one of the things that I haven't mentioned yet in this review is their effort in their music videos which is usually outstanding.
There are several singles off of this record that were released previously and some with music videos that are just creatively a step above.
So, although I'm going to suggest you listen to this record from beginning to end so you can soak in the full vibe and spectrum of how this band does their thing, I'm also going to say that you should check out their YouTube and watch some of their music videos as well because they put more effort than the norm into those aspects as well.
These are the kinds of things that show you that this band has heart and our love with what they're doing.
You can just hear this in the music as well, but it's a lot of fun to go beyond that, especially with these guys.
Remember to turn this up and if you love alternative rock, classic pop-punk anything with great riffs, great energy, heart, and a little bit of an outside-the-box approach, then you'll love the first track "Heartbreak Queen" which means you love the rest of this record.
Remember where you heard it first.
