A new single from a Princess Luminous delivers a very theatrical soundscape, complete with lush and robust string sections, cinematic backbone, beautiful piano work, and this engaging and addictive vocal approach that pulls you right into the story with descriptive and detailed lyrics that let you sort of paint a picture as the song unfolds.
"The Windmills of Your Mind" has an absolutely beautiful way of evolving and building. As the song plays through, it grows in intensity, and as this happens, you become swallowed up by everything that you hear.
This is a single that has a very unique approach lyrically because it talks about inner struggle and lets a lot of inner thought out for all to soak in, but it does so by describing landscapes and using elements of nature to help describe emotional pull.
Throughout the track, you have some beautiful changes, and with those, you get swept up. The song talks about everything it is to have a free mind. The thoughts that go through your head throughout the course of a day, the dreams you may have as you sleep, and the things that you think about as days go by.
This is a track that owns in on the beauty of the human thought process, and with it comes plenty of emotion because there's a sense of existentialism that comes with this single.
This made me think about different facets of life's attributes. It made me ponder what I will leave behind after I'm gone, what memories I will have later in life.
What regrets I might look back on, what joyful moments I might remember, the people and situations in life that help build me as a person, and change my thought processes as life goes on.
All of this is strung together so incredibly well and in such an elegant and poetic way that when the song is over, you have to shake it off and react to me yourself once again.
This was a beautiful escape and again, very gracefully performed with vocals that come through with a heavy-handed theatrical approach, and the way it paints all these pictures is quite embracing.
It is a song that lets you remember the cycles and circle of life itself, and how we as people are impacted by that.
This is a song with a lot of layers to it. Musically, again, it focuses on piano, gorgeous string sections that come orchestrated and full-bodied, light percussion, and vocals that grab you and take you on a wonderful Journey.
It is clear that Princess Luminous is an artist who gives pieces of herself with her music, and that her songs have this incredible level of depth that creates such an impact when we hear it that it lets us connect with them. We end up thinking about our own life or having memories of our own pop into our heads at random when we listen to this song.
That, to me, is one of the most awe-inspiring attributes of songs like this one. And how he took her time to really put together the lyrics in such a beautiful way, and one that we can all completely understand.
That balance between emotion, metaphor, description, and detail is unreal.
The performance from everything here is outstanding, and the whole song fits together like puzzle pieces, giving you a world to step into. The song is an escape.
This single is accompanied by another called "The Girl from Ipanema", which has some of the same vibes but also this great sort of classic '70s Jazz undertone with plenty of Soul attached to it.
I like this song as well because it shows a little bit of a different side to the artist and how she does her thing.
Both of these songs are incredibly worth listening to, and upon listening to them, I found another released earlier this year called "New Day", which again, has beautifully descriptive lyrics and a sort of bright and warm, welcoming tonality to it.
You can hear a slew of influences incorporated in these songs, and most importantly, there's a lot of personality embedded in every element.
I suggest listening to all three of these and doing so with headphones on so you can really soak everything in properly.
This is a series of songs that are beautifully woven and have slightly different approaches, but all fall under this inviting sense of musical approach that stays with you long after they have ended.
Take a deep dive into these songs right now and remember where you heard it first.
