A brilliant new single release from Paul Félix delivers such a beautiful sentiment just about life itself, the changes in chapters of our lives, and how nature at times sort of mimics these things. As he notices the change of seasons, Paul attributes that and correlates it with life changes, growing older, and that sentiment is such a beautiful one, but also a little existential and deep thinking, which is what makes the song so intriguing.
"Se pourrat-il" is a track that gives off such a warmth and inviting sound in the form of a folk and pop-rock approach that wraps itself around you in the best ways possible, with beautiful guitar work that feels sort of distanced or vast, along with indie-style vocals that showcase some emotion in the sentiment that's being expressed.
The track bears such soul. Just the way that the lyrics unfold and how the soundscape of everything keeps to that warm tonality, but still has a beautiful progression and melodic aesthetic that keeps you there.
This is a song in French, and "Se pourrat-il" roughly translates in English to "Could It Be" or "Is It Possible", which makes perfect sense given the nature of the song itself and how reflective it actually is.
A song like this showcases that hint of vulnerability, but the self-reflection aspect is heavy-handed because it takes a lot to see and understand that there are others out there who may believe in you the way you believe in them.
This is a strength in songwriting. Just the message alone is a way of pulling you into the song in a very particular way.
I also feel like it's very relatable. I think we've all had people that we really believed in and wondered if they believed in us as well.
There's always someone in your story that makes an impact, and that's what this song is about. Someone that makes that wonderful impact and at times, can let you rethink certain aspects of life.
The visual and depictive connection between sections of life going away and new ones coming in is compared to the leaves of trees falling and growing new once more.
They are chapters in the tree's life, just like we have chapters of our own. Our chapters may be a little bit more emotional than physical, but the sentiment is the same. It's about change and belief.
There's such a beautiful light at the end of the tunnel throughout this track, and it has this spirited undertone that you can really sense when you listen to it.
I love the heart that the track delivers and how the music of it all comes through in such a lush fashion. There are layers of guitars that come in and give the song a sort of swimming and flowing soundscape, and it feels good to float alongside it.
The vocals are double tracked at times giving things a little bit more of a thickness and letting the lyrics and choruses feel more anthemic and powerful, there is that vast undertone as I mentioned earlier which lets it feel even slightly cinematic, but it all has such a bold and emotional sort of backbone that's not sitting right at the forefront, but rather embedded into the song lyrically.
The musical and instrumental mood fit perfectly for the sentiment and message behind the song, and it was beautifully done with an elegance in rock music that really felt great to listen to.
This is for anyone who likes reflective songs.
There are a lot of us out there. People who want to listen to songs that take us on a little journey or let us rethink something. Songs that let us feel introspective, like we all want to be.
Sometimes it's hard to look forward to knowing that there's a change coming. This is part of why the song connects with me. There's always change happening whether we like it or not. there's always that person or people who you want to believe in you.
Have faith in the fact that they likely do and don't be afraid of change because even when something feels scary, it may turn out to be that light at the end of the tunnel.
This was a beautiful track, and Paul gave a well-received message.
