A new single release from Luz Uzal delivers quite a unique experience that feels expansive as it unfolds, and you get pulled deeper into its unwinding and lush atmosphere.
Part of the beauty of songs like this is that it pulls you away from wherever you are and whatever you're doing and puts you in a completely different space. One that's almost fantastical, and there are little bits of magic that come along with that, because when it's all over, you have to snap yourself back into reality again.
You get an experience, which is not something that you get all the time, so when it comes along, it's quite a beautiful thing.
"alma" is strangely powerful. It features acoustic guitar and spacious synth pads, along with something that feels incredibly orchestral lurking in its undertone.
The whole thing has elements of indie folk, cinematic thickness, elegant vocals, and a very graceful and full-bodied aesthetic.
It's sort of dreamy. It invites you to float alongside it, but it also grows intense in different parts of the song. The deeper into the song you get, the more intense it feels.
It's got live percussion and these organs that don't just fill the space, but rather add a sort of almost spiritual effect.
They feel like church organs, and because of that, it adds a different dimension to the already gorgeously constructed piece of work.
Vocals are so complimentary. Each element of the song seems to naturally compliment each other. Between the instruments and the vocals, that is. Everything fits together like puzzle pieces somehow, and as the song builds and swells, sways and drifts, you feel a sort of fire in your belly.
Luz has a gorgeous vocal tone in general. She sings with Incredible passion, and I think that's part of where the fire comes from. You can feel that intense passion flowing through the veins of this entire song, and because of that, it also feels incredibly theatrical, in a sense.
It is a blending and mending of genres that feels completely seamless. It's its own universe, and it's easy to be moved by pieces of music like this because it wraps itself around you.
This is the kind of music that you get engulfed by. You are easily swallowed up by its soundscape, and the whole track itself feels alive and breathing.
Towards the end of the track, you start hearing beautiful vocal harmonies, and then at the very end, it feels like a rant. An intense come almost there, and this is almost like the final climactic moment of intensity at the very last segment of the song itself.
The guitar work is absolutely outstanding throughout this entire thing, as it lends a hand to classical Spanish guitar, and this adds to the entire song's cultural flair as it is.
This was a beautiful crossover sound that, once again took elements of cinematic folk, pop, that cultural backbone, Spanish classical, bordering on Flamenco at times, and it all just felt natural.
This is a song you listen to with headphones on so you can really soak in all the different textures, tones, sounds, and elements that make it whole.
Now, if you're not too familiar with Luz Uzal as it is, then I would also suggest checking out songs like "raro", which deliver more of this amazingly raw energy that she just naturally puts out.
Also,".38" introduces a little bit more electronic elements to the mix, but still displays that same semi-animated and massively theatrical performance that rules you right in.
In all honesty, I wouldn't miss any of these songs if I were you.
This is for people who like music that takes you away. Songs that whisk you up and put you in different spaces.
All of it was beautifully done, and I would definitely jump on all of this as soon as you can, so you're not missing out.
Take a very deep dive into this music right now, and don't forget where you heard it first.
