A new single release from Kev Sherry delivers a classic sort of warmth that comes through with a blend of singer-songwriter, indie pop, pop rock, and even a little hint of post-punk in there as well and, it's all rolled up into one track that comes through with this vast undertone so, it feels kind of cinematic as well.
"Particles of Light" has an addictive tonality to it, and the song is very lush in terms of its instrumentation because not only are there clean acoustic and electric guitars but there are also the synth pads in the background that float through the ether of the track so that it gets bigger and more expansive and that works towards that cinematic feel that I mentioned earlier.
You get a great glimpse of Kev's personality on this track because I feel like he gives a piece of himself, and the lyrics come through really detailed and honest at times which builds on the character of the track and lets you get more involved and connect it.
There are definitely some layers that can be peeled back here, and I love that combination of genres that come together because it gives the song a slightly vintage tonality in a way that comes through welcoming and has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to.
One of my favorite aspects about this song is the way it grows because by the time you get to the last minute or so of this track, it's grown into a whole different thing in a way.
You have layers of these sorts of harmonizing backing vocals, and piano keys, and everything just feels bigger and with a little bit more sonic drive so the song becomes slightly more intense the more you listen to it.
This was beautifully constructed, and it was performed with this heart behind it that just gives you little hints in the beginning but by the time you get to the end you really can feel it strongly.
I think that part of the beauty of this track is in the arrangement and the performance for sure.Â
To me, this feels like it's certainly came from someplace real and he's letting some inner thoughts out onto the track to the point where it may have been cathartic for him to write and release.
I think I adore that vastness in that cinematic feel because to me, it makes things more intense, and it brings the song together in such a classic sort of way that by the end of the track, you're kind of surprised.
With the song that sort of grows the way that this one does, you tend to get sucked into it because of the direction that it's going, and its forward-moving flow and I think that the arrangement has everything to do with that.
This song speaks volumes for the artist in my opinion and as far as we can tell this is just a glimpse of an upcoming solo album from the artist which, if it's got more of this kind of stuff then I can't wait for it.
I feel like the album's going to be like chapters in the artist's life and that is because this song feels like one as well.
Either way, take a deep dive into this track and see how it sort of has a way of swimming around in the air that surrounds you.
It certainly affected me in a certain way, and I think that it will affect you as well.
I would strongly suggest listening to this track with headphones on so you can really soak in everything that's going on in the song musically, emotionally, texturally, and everything else.
Take a listen to this now and remember where you heard it first.
