A brand new release from Fragile Lucy brings out a lush soundscape in the form of songs that blend and bend genres at free will, bringing on elements and layers of funk, pop, dance, folk, and plenty more, all rolled into one outstanding EP that breaks boundaries and is built with fewer walls than you may be used to.
The SYZYGY EP is packed with vivacious and colorful energy, textures, tones, and soundscapes because it is experimental, incredibly danceable, and shines with presence from beginning to end.
This is a record you have to listen to all the way through. Listening to just one or even two songs will not give you anywhere near the full spectrum that the EP hospital.
This is a record with five tracks in total and every single one is completely different from the last.
There are certain staples that are showcased throughout the record and confluent aspects, but this is outside the box, infectiously fun, and packed with insanely addictive synths, vocals, and overall tones.
The record starts with a track called "I'm in love with you (now now now)", and it certainly wastes no time whatsoever giving you that vintage Funk synthesizer as the song comes right in with it, bright, energetic, and ready for impact.
This is such a lush single and a great way to introduce the EP with.
With this one track alone, you get those danceable rhythms, experimental undertones, classic and vintage sounds, and robust vocals that are bursting with flavor.
This is an endlessly fun track that it's hard right from the get-go and pulls you right into the record itself.
It's a song that lets you know that you should get ready for what's to come.
Having said that, as I mentioned before, all these songs are different and each one has something refreshing to offer.
The following track, "Journey To Mars", gives off much more of a pop-coated approach with inventive keys, animated and character-riddled vocals, and an indie-pop undertone.
I think that's one of the most important things about this release in general. It is packed with personality and character through and through.
You are stepping out of your world and into Fragile Lucy's, and it's something you should buckle in for.
Just the sheer combination of color and avant-garde pop with those Funk underbellies and surprises around the corners is enough for you to get addicted to everything that's happening.
You were pulled away from wherever you are and whatever you're doing and you are put into this whole other place. It is bright, vibrant, a little Fantastical, and has its own atmosphere altogether.
Once you're in this atmosphere, you don't want to leave.
Tracks like 'Smart, but not with my heart" portray a great side of her personality in terms of giving off honesty in the lyrics. This helps paint a picture, and you can tell that no matter how outside-the-box songs are, or how pop-sensible they are, you're getting a little piece of the artist.
This builds the character I mentioned earlier. It's not just how the songs are performed, it's what's being said.
The cool thing about this song, in particular, is that it blends some great synthesizers and beats with acoustic guitar, bringing in some of that Folk influence I mentioned before.
This is one of my favorite songs simply because it blends those digital and natural instruments so well that it becomes something else altogether.
One of the more experimental tracks is called 'When the Moon is opposite the Sun" and this one is really cool because it's just totally unexpected.
This one also features some acoustic instrumentation along with the digital side of things, with keys and synthesizers, but it's more mellow in a sense. It's got a vast undertone and an almost cinematic aesthetic.
This one got me floating alongside it very quickly and was one of the ones that felt the most fantastical out of the bunch.
The record closes out with a track called "In another galaxy", which blends all of the elements of the record in one song. Almost like the first song did but a little different. This one has the acoustic guitars in there, along with all kinds of brilliant vocals that almost serve like instruments themselves.
It's an excellent song to close the record with because after it's all over, you sort of have to shake it all off.
Like I said, this is an experience to be listened to from start to finish.
It's like reading a good book, and each chapter is a different part of her life, but also a different mood, concept, and tone.
The whole thing comes together like puzzle pieces somehow and is confluent, but his outlandishly fun.
This is one of my favorite records so far this year simply because it thinks so far outside the box while still keeping things unbelievably addictive, catchy, hooky, danceable, and loaded with that character.
Check this record out as soon as you can because you will absolutely not be bored even for a second.
Be ready to dance, listen carefully, and absorb lush soundscapes left and right.
Remember where you heard it first.
