Engine of Ruin Drop a Gritty, Fuzztone Release

A release from Engine of Ruin delivers a set of lengthy and gritty tracks that encompass everything that you would want from an energetic, live performance style, with deep and edgy rock tonality.

The Yetti release focuses on a thick and robust bass guitar performed with a heavy hand and gives off a unique tone with a fuzz distortion and thrashy approach.

This is a doom metal and rock duo from Scotland so, you have the bass guitar and live drums which together actually bring out so much crazy energy that it puts you right there in the moment.

The first and title track, "Yetti" is over 30 minutes in length and runs the Gambit in Earth rumbling Melodies, aggressive tonality, and robust, bovine vocals that also add to the drive of the song.

What I love about this is the sheer fact that it feels like it was all alive recording. You can feel the energy fluctuate between the players and this is what gives the song an alive and breathing feel.

I love a track that puts you in the moment the way this one does. Listening to these songs makes me want to go see them perform all of this live in my face because if you can capture this kind of energy on record, then seeing it live must be a real face-melter.

When you listen to that bass guitar tone on this record you just know that in a live performance setting, it's going to be earth-shattering and that is something I would want when I'm looking to see something heavy.

The bass guitar performances are all-around awesome simply because it's based on melody and heaviness.

The drive of the bass guitar is as heavy and hard-hitting as the drumming is.

However, the drumming is also an important aspect to these tracks because they really push the boundaries.

These guys are really jamming and the recordings on this release are the two of them getting into their zone.

When you listen to it, you know that they're in their own world and you are pulled into that world.

The second track, "Dirty Melody" is just as powerful and heavy but the bass tone is slightly different. The vocal approach is more death metal style but still brings that grueling doom aspect to the table without question.

I think this is my favorite track of them all and it spans almost 20 minutes in length.

These tracks are widespread with lengthy riffs that stretch and whale as the drums hit hard and always in the pocket but keep things lively and vibrant.

Again, it's really the energy level that hits the hardest throughout this whole thing. That's what you end up feeding into and it is quite a unique approach but also addictive.

The two tracks are followed by a third installment called "Winters S P A W N" which is also performed live and therefore has that same energy and drive.

Each track has something a little different to offer and you get different angles to the musical soundscape but I just love the whole live performance aspect.

It's something special to hear a band and immediately know that seeing them live is something you want to do.

I hope they have two bass amps when they play live. One on each side of the stage.

This was a killer, shredding, doom rock, and deep-toned release that pulls you away from whatever you are doing and puts you in their space.

For anyone who loves a dirty, fuzz-tone, grueling doom rock style, this duo is 100% for you.

This was a massive record with songs that were long and brutal, but somehow insanely infectious.

You get addicted to those tones and become a part of the atmosphere that it delivers pretty quickly.

I also think it takes guts to release a record that is a complete live performance and these guys pulled it off.

Check this release out as soon as you can and turn it up because it's the best way to listen.

Remember where you heard it first.
