Dusty Wright Releases A Personal Single

ree

A gorgeous new single from Dusty Wright delivers a drifting cinematic tonality with floating guitars that invite you to drift right alongside them, layers of textures that set a thick atmosphere for you to swim through, and a sentiment that feels so connective and relatable that you can't help but get engulfed by this piece of music.

"Where To Be" can be taken in a few different ways depending on who's listening, of course. For me, this had the sentiment of personal struggle and having a certain kind of happy place, or looking at the light at the end of the tunnel when things get difficult.

This is a very common practice for a lot of us because everyone has struggles that they're going through. For Dusty, I feel like it comes from a completely emotional aspect, and when things get dark, there is a certain place that he puts himself so that he can hold on to some light.

When things get dark, he knows where to be.

Now, again, this is how I took the song, and like I said, certain people may take it a little differently, but the sentiment, for me, was pretty straightforward, and I loved it because I can relate to it so deeply.

The music fits the lyrics extremely well because the music itself is both light and dark. It boasts elements of Americana, folk, cinematic-rock, and even certain elements of pop that lurk beneath the surface, but all in all, it's a song that has this great emotional drive and bears enough honesty to feel completely authentic.

Because of that authenticity, it has a lot of character, and that's the kind of thing you latch onto when you hear a song like this.

This is a track that makes you think of yourself in a sense. You think of your people, your situations, your struggles, and your way to find a happier place or hold on through those struggles.

It's about mindset, and Dusty has found certain ones to get him through different aspects of life.

Again, this is totally humanizing, and the song had a very unique way of wrapping itself around me.

The music is again ethereal, spacious, vast, beautifully layered with melodies, and attention to detail when it comes to the tone of the guitars.

It also has this classic rock undertone, mostly coming from these thick organs that are adding even more of that atmosphere, pulling you in deeper.

As the song goes on,  you get some great background vocals happening that dig in, and as I mentioned before, there are so many amazing layers of textures happening throughout this track that by the time you get to the end of it, you kind of want to start it again because you've escaped into it the first time.

It's a song that has a unique way of pulling you away from wherever you are and whatever you're doing and putting you in a different place for a little chunk of time.

It doesn't matter whether the place is happy or sad, but more the fact that it pulled you away in the first place.

This is a song that makes you think and feel, and in my opinion, we need much more of that in music generally.

Because of the emotional backbone of the track, it is very cinematic to me. I can see it in scenes of films or TV shows easily. It has that depth to it.

This is a song about starting fresh. It's okay to start over. It's okay not to be so hard on yourself. It's okay to have a clean slate every once in a while.

The mindset is yours and is up to you to decide.

This was a gracefully performed track that made me think of artists like Lou Reed. It has that sort of aesthetic to it.

At any rate, dive into this track as soon as you can and do it with headphones on because it's one of the best ways to soak everything in. Remember where you heard this first.
