Cronoth Delivers an Opus of a Metal Record

A new album release from Cronoth hits with a ferocious and thrashing metal approach that blends a classic style with death and black metal along with an intense and flowing energy that delivers fiery soundscapes along with vastness and the record quickly becomes more of an experience than anything else.

The Ruler of the Storm album has layers to it and it's something that for fans of thrash metal and death metal, will be super satiating because these refs and this electric and ruthless energy packs a serious punch.

This record can give you some serious whiplash because everything is so fast at times but again, there's this vastness and melodic undertone with certain tracks as well so you get a lot of different layers and a lot of different worlds that come along with the record and it's not just one style of metal only.

You do get this dark and almost gothic edginess in its underbelly and quite a heavy haunt a lot of the time that's given off by an incredibly heavy edginess and it all sounds super tight.

The percussion and drumming across the record is insane and it's matched by the guitar work which is one of the most impressive aspects of the record.

Even the guitar tones are damn near perfect every single track and the riffs and performances are done with such precision but also such heavy intensity at the same time that you're getting a lot to soak in.

This is indeed a black metal inspired record and it's an ode to the genre to say the least.

I think what's maybe most impressive about this is that Conoth, as far as I can tell, is a one-man band. So, my question is, how much of this does he do himself?

Are the drums programmed? How does someone put together such a massive and insane record with such detail and drive by himself?

I love these kinds of questions because when you listen to a record that sounds like it's performed by some incredible band of maybe four or five people, and then you find out it's just one person, it's crazy.

I find it difficult to even try to imagine where someone would get started piecing together a record like this because again, there are a lot of layers, there are a lot of moving parts, and there's a ton of attention to detail throughout the entire thing.

People who don't listen to a lot of metal don't really grasp the immense talent that it takes to put together a record like this one because they think it's just easy peasy. But it's not.

Even if it was a full band and we're just talking about the guitars alone, the talent there is incredible. We're talking about someone who could probably play fluent jazz if you wanted to.

This record speaks volumes for the uprising of multi-instrumentalist, recording artists who have a vision in their mind and are actually able to bring it to fruition.

It's part of the reason I love being alive in this time period. Where someone could put together a whole metal record like this one by himself.

This was a massive opus of a black metal release with such depth that when it's over, you have to sort of reacclimate yourself back to reality again, and that to me, is a gift in music no matter what the genre is.

A blistering record from Cronoth.

Take a deep dive into this one and don't be afraid to turn it up.

Remember where you heard it first.
