BONES OF GOLIATH FIND A NEW VOICE AND TURN IT UP

Joining a band with a song already in your pocket is one thing. Letting everybody else get their hands on it is where things get interesting. New Bones of Goliath vocalist Aaron Dilorenzo brought “Down The Steps” into the room, and the group worked it into something they could all claim.
I love this stuff. Somebody get me another drink; I’m about to become enthusiastic about arrangements.
The song builds gradually, giving that heavy groove somewhere to go before the thunder arrives. That’s a good fit for a band figuring out its new chemistry. As the band puts it, “As we worked through it together, it definitely took on the vibe and feel of the band.”
There’s an unexpectedly tender idea underneath the noise, too. Dilorenzo wrote it around his connection with a temperamental Rottweiler named Lacey, a conversation between two creatures who understood isolation. Well, hell. That’ll get you.
The live video comes from their Green Jelly opening slot at The Rex Theater in Michigan. With preproduction already underway for more music, it offers a useful first look at what this combination of people can do. I’m curious what happens when they take that chemistry into the studio and on the road with their tour dates in the new year!
