If you're not yet too familiar with the sounds and songwriting of Atomic Junction, then let us be among the first to bring them to your attention seeing that they had recently released an album called Peacedale and the record has a few different ways of grabbing you.
One of the first is the lyrical content because a lot of the lyrics are or can be very detailed and at times descriptive so that you're able to paint pictures in your head as the record unfolds which is something of a rarity so when you come across a record that hits right and gets descriptive with details, perspectives, inner thought, and points of view, you start getting engulfed by it.
There are a lot of truths that are spoken in this release. The way that they are articulated is borderline brilliant simply because a lot of them can be very relatable in different ways. So many of us don't know how to express those kinds of thoughts or inner struggles if you will, into words let alone words and music so for certain tracks on this record, you may feel like you're a little less alone in the little inner struggles or personal thoughts you may have.
Throughout this approach and personal Insight, you have an album with a Southern rock style, and it crosses a bit of vintage country with the rock overtone and, of course, Americana that just comes naturally with songs like this.
There are also those classic rock in there too with organs on certain tracks and the way the guitars twang on others. When classic rock is mentioned these days, it can mean a lot of things but here, I mean rock of the mid to late '70s along with maybe some early '80s.
It was all very well produced and the performances are tastefully and almost gracefully done at times.
There are a lot of musical hooks as well as vocal hooks that let the songs sort of stick with you for a long time.
It's almost like heartland rock. You feel good listening to it. It's songs that make you feel like you're at home. I know that sounds strange to say but, when you listen to the record you will understand more of what I mean.
Of course, you have classic blues in the mix and it's almost like you can hear different influences coming from the members of the band making this record its own thing but also strangely familiar in a certain way.
The album felt very genuine.
Junction is a band based in St. Louis, and I've been performing gigs around the Greater St. Louis area for quite some time along with at least a handful of upcoming performances.
So, you can tell these guys are very active and like to perform live which would be a great thing to see judging from the sound of this album alone.
One of the best ways to catch this record is on their Spotify which is also a great way to also listen to their 2022 EP called Gun Show.
All in all, this is most certainly a band I will be keeping an eye on from here on out in hopes of hearing some new stuff on the way.
This is a release for anyone who loves classic rock, country, blues rock, or anything else that floats around the atmosphere of those genres.
To get in a bit deeper on the band and pull all the low down, check out their website or jump over to their Instagram account.
But, while you're doing all that, be sure you're listening to the Peacedale record.
Remember where you heard it first.
