Angela Perry Releases A Warm New Single

A beautiful new release from Angela Perry delivers a beautiful crossover between contemporary and Americana. Her vocals are absolutely engulfing. I mean that in a good way, of course. With lush southern-toned instrumentation like violins, piano, and a warm aesthetic, this just feels completely welcoming from start to finish.

Her vocals are very inviting, and she gets very descriptive lyrically as she tells the story of the butterfly, but relates that in terms of a metaphor to life in general. I really love the aesthetic of this song. It's got this almost live performance undertone to it.

The song talks about how a butterfly hides in a warm place to dry its wings from the snow or the rain. It figures things out and makes it through so we can get home.

I took that in both literal and a metaphoric sense, being that it works for people as well. Sometimes we have to find our way, and even if this isn't meant to be metaphoric, it connected with me on that level.

Her vocal performance is outstanding, and the tone of her voice itself really complements the rest of the instruments amazingly.

Her vocal tone is absolutely warm, just like the rest of the instruments.

Throughout the song, you have piano, guitar, mandolin, and live percussion, amongst more, creating such a fluent feel and full-bodied soundscape.

Nothing about this is overdone; instead, it's very balanced and comes through with a relatable sentiment.

You can tell that all kinds of genres influence the artist. I can hear the country music along with plenty of the pop undertone shining through this entire single, and she melds those elements together seamlessly to create something that balances that emotion and almost theatrical feel.

This is a song that you listen to with headphones on. This way, you can soak in all of these layers of texture and energy the song gives off. I definitely found holding on to it long after it's ended, and the course of the track still bounces around in my brain.

The only way to satiate that is to go listen to it again.

Along with such an elegant sound, the songwriting is really well put together. The arrangement was very well thought out, and she paid attention to the lyrics enough to paint that picture in your head as the song unfolds.

Along with that, you have a very colorful and beautiful video that displays butterflies along with the artist herself, and I feel like the color schemes and shots were really well done because it connects with the song on the level that you want it to.

One of my favorite aspects about this track is the mandolin and how there's actually a bit of a mandolin solo that dips in and out of harmonies while the piano hits deeper notes, and that just gives you an amazing tonality to hold on to.

The live drumming really gives the song a little bit of drive but again, not over the top. Just the perfect amount so that the song has a natural flow to it.

A lot of the song has to do with the butterfly hiding out for the winter, but by the end of the song, everything is full swing, the butterflies can now spread their wings and fly, and you have this very spirited vibe.

Angela did a great job of working it up to that climactic section. It's sort of luxurious, in a sense.

It's uplifting, and the way that I related to it was once again, just going through things in life as a person, and getting yourself together before putting yourself back out there again.

I took the song in a way that others might not. I think music like this is for different people to interpret how they feel.

That's part of the beauty of songs like this one. You will interpret it however you want, and for me, it was that uplifting and almost spiritually brightened and honest aesthetic.

I would definitely consider this to be an adult contemporary Americana single, and I don't really want to just label genres, because the song has its own approach, but for people who like Americana or even contemporary music, this is going to be something you don't want to miss.

Beautifully done, gracefully performed, and overwhelmingly welcoming, don't miss out on this one.

While you're at it, you should definitely check out "My Truck Knows Me Better", which definitely gets personal and showcases her ability, once again, to delve deep with her lyrics.

Remember where you heard it first.
