An Interview With Wasting Time

A new release from Wasting Time brings out a nearly perfect pop-punk tonality that blends with unstoppable energy and a crisp production to hit this combination of classic and new school styles blend it together and all done with a massive amount of heart.

"Losing My Mind" is an absolute banger and hits with the perfect amount of gusto and classic punk swagger to be able to get your ass moving in your seat.

This track is a perfect example of a band that has a pure love for their craft because that factor oozes out of every second of this single.

What's really cool is that the energy that's captured on the record although it's produced super well and everything is ultra tight, still has the feel of a live performance as if each player is feeding off of each other the whole time.

This aspect isn't true Punk fashion and these guys have nailed that aspect.

The guitar tones are awesome and the chorus is incredibly memorable and ends up bouncing around in your head for hours after the song has ended.

I absolutely love fast-paced pop punk that blends that maturity in musicianship with youth in songwriting.

It has that purebred youthful feel to it but everyone is so incredible at what they do that nothing skips a beat.

There's something kind of graceful about that if you think about it and maybe people that don't really listen to pop punk or punk in general would understand it but it's the same thing with metal for example.

It's in the attitude and liveliness. It's in that energy and the fire behind the song itself and the performances.

This is something that's imperative for music like this because there is an excitable aspect about it and when that isn't done right it misses the mark which obviously these guys do not.

This track hits all the sweet spots and it really does make you want to go see them live because it would probably be an amazing show.

Along with the track comes a great music video as well that shows even more of the character that the band presents in their music.

These guys have a massive presence and are able to pull off crazy high-speed intricate pop punk like it's chewing bubblegum and walking.

This track comes in with a bass line and the tone of the instrument sets the tone for the song right off the bat.

When the rest of the song follows suit it's completely explosive and this was exactly what I needed to hear today.

With the release of such a well-woven single, we wanted to have a sit down with Wasting Time to find out where this track actually came from and what might be coming up next for the band.

Here's what went down.

Buzz Slayers: Okay, let's start with your "Losing My Mind! This release had such great energy and classic pop-punk style! Where did this track come from?

Vlad - I was actually reading this book called Billy Summers by Stephen King, The main character is on the run hiding out and he starts kinda losing his mind in isolation. I went to shower and wrote it in about 15 min. I kept singing it in my head to remember all the lyrics.

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as a band?

Vlad - I was playing an acoustic show in 2017 and met Mike through a mutual friend (Tina Six) at stop drop and roll. It was love at first sight, soon after we met Mark And Nick and the rest is what you call history.

Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire other songs for you guys?

Vlad - typically real life events or experience, but as of late I’ve tried writing about movies and books . We’re working on a new record right now and there’s a song called “ Pearl” it was inspired by this amazing horror flick . I absolutely fell in love with story and it was only fitting to write a song about it .
