A new single from UNTO the AGES just dropped, and the track boasts such a massive sonic drive that blends elements of melodic metal, hardcore, and even hints of grunge at times, all into one track that comes through impactful, powerful, and anthemic in its choruses.
One of the reasons "Never Fade" hits so hard is that it comes from a place of deep emotional pull. This is a very authentic track lyrically, and it's hard in terms of reaching into the depths of meaning behind love, loss, and never forgetting.
In that sense, the lyrics are just as powerful and as heavy-handed as the music of the track itself.
The song comes through with massive riffs and an amazing guitar tone, which is a real key element here. You can tell these guys paid a lot of attention to the tones of their instruments and how the arrangement was going to come through as well.
It was a very well thought-out single, and it unfolds perfectly.
The bass guitar tone is also absolutely incredible. It's rumbling and has a thin high end but a big fat low end as well, so it just gives the song such a deepening approach while still having that certain pitch to it. It added a lot of edginess to the song. The bass guitar on this track was imperative in terms of the tone and the performance, so that it actually added heaviness to the guitars and everything else.
I love a metal song where you can actually hear the base tone as well.
The drumming throughout the track is obviously outstanding. Some really cool fills are performed even just with kick drums at times.
The drummer doesn't just sit in the pocket. He adds a liveliness to the track and brings it to a new level of energy, which you feel like the rest of the band just sort of feeds off of.
It actually feels like everyone in the band was feeding off of each other throughout this entire thing.
You can tell the emotions are high and that the energy level was connected between the players. There's a heavy element of synergism that exists throughout this track to the point where it feels almost like they recorded some of it live on the floor, and everyone was able to really feed off of each other in that way.
Of course, I wasn't there, so I'm not sure how they did it. Listening to the song makes you want to go see them perform this live because being able to capture that energy and aesthetic on record this well is not easy, but they sure pulled it off.
Seeing this and a live performance setting would just be amazing. I have to love a band where you could listen to one track and immediately know that you'd want to go see them perform.
There are a few different kinds of vocals throughout this track, and most of them are really belting out, giving that honesty, truths, and inner thought that just comes spilling out for everyone to soak in.
It's not just in the lyrics, it's in the performance. The vocal performance overall has heart to it, and although it may be a heavy heart to an extent, it is hard to all the same, and that's part of what really drives this song through the roof.
Everyone was clearly on the same page here.
During certain heavier sections where you can hear bouts of aggression, it becomes screaming instead of singing, and I like this too because those are part of the set of emotions when it comes to love and loss. The aggression is there, you can't deny it, and they certainly didn't try to. They kept it in there so that it could be part of the full extent of what needed to be put out there.
This kind of song showcases a range of emotion, and they did it in such a Powerhouse kind of way. The choruses are, as I said before, anthemic. There's just no better word for it.
There's a certain spirit in those choruses and how hard they hit.
Amazing vocal melodies, hooks that kind of stick in your head for hours after the song has ended, and just an overall incredible Sonic presence, this track hit exactly the way it was intended to.
Now, having listened to this single a few times, I have even a better idea of where the band is coming from lyrically and musically, but it is something where each listener may interpret it slightly differently than the next.
Again, you can tell it's an emotional track and that it is genuine and it's sentiment. Listening to the song even once, you can tell.
But I wanted to know what this was actually about. I needed to know where this came from and just find out more about the bad themselves.
So, when you listen to this track, and I suggest you do this loud or with headphones so you can really soak in all the layers that are getting delivered, read through the interview that we conducted with the band below.
It gives some insight as to where the song is coming from lyrically, which is very important, and also delves into what's coming up next for them, influences, and plenty more.
So, check this out now, check out the interview, and remember where you heard this first.
Buzz Slayers: Let's talk about "Never Fade"! This is a massive track with memorable riffs and anthemic vocals!! Where did this single come from?
Mark: It's a mixed bag really, we all have a share in the writing process. Mostly one of us will come up with a riff, a chorus idea or even just a concept and bring it to the group. We will then build around that initial spark and try out different ways of playing it and structuring the track until it settles in. We then polish it over a few practices so it's tight. Then we can add the touches like little tight breaks or grooves that make it feel like UTA... and ultimately what people will love to listen to. We always try and give it enough time to breathe before we take it out anywhere so that everyone feels like it the best of UTA. There's a lot of suggestions, a lot of creative flow, testing parts, scrapping parts, tweaking parts, listening and relistening again with fresh ears before we nail things down.
Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you as a band?
Xen: As it happens "Never Fade" is also the song that birthed UNTO the AGES as a band. After Anj's passing, Matt reached out to me with a simple invitation: "Come down to the rehearsal room and see what happens." The result the formation the band, we just kept going after that initial practice – everything just fell into place. Writing about Anj felt like the natural first step. So, in a way "Never Fade" is way more than just a tribute song – it's kind of the foundation stone of the band itself.
Buzz Slayers: How did you first get involved with UTA, and are you performing live right now?
Kringo: My first gig with these guys was at Angel of Rage Fest 2025. I was asked by Xen - who I'd played in high school bands with almost 20 years ago. I'd also been the guitarist for our old band Case Closed back in the day, another project Xen and I were in together, which made the connection even more meaningful. That festival was in aid of pancreatic cancer, which sadly took the life of Case Closed's own Angelie Avram, Xen's brother. It felt important to show up, bring the fire, and honour that memory. We had a few practices, the chemistry was undeniable, and it rolled naturally into another show - the Frog & Fiddle in Cheltenham on 28th November.
Buzz Slayers: Now that this is out, what's next for you as a band?
Mark: We are still rolling with our creative process. In the near future we have new music dropping soon, something you'll recognise if you caught one of our live shows. A film to support our "Never Fade" release so watch this space and more live shows and films coming into the new year. Our style is developing and maturing like a fine wine, now we have the talented Kringo onboard, with new tracks in the works featuring some great concepts and grooves that we're confident people will love.
Buzz Slayers: Who's in all your headphones right now?
Matt: Stray from the path...
Mark: In my headphones right now... Pokey LaFarge
Xen: I've been blamming Megadeth's new record, 'Tripping Point, those guys are unreal!
Kringo: Right now? Sylosis. Their drummer is absolutely insane, and I've been glued to them lately trying to hone my own craft. The band actually recommended them to me, and with Ben from Sylosis producing and mastering our new material, it's been a constant source of inspiration.
Buzz Slayers: What would you tell people they can expect on this release?
Xen: If you like heavy, and you also like melody, this is a track for you! Never Fade is a heartfelt metal anthem for everyone who knows what grief and loss feels like. We hope this track brings comfort to those who need it, and in general we just hope people can connect with the music, the message and our hope is for this song to be gateway for people to come and explore the rest of our music too! It also features the very talented Ben Thomas of Sylosis, who plays an insane solo for us on the track - it's like the icing on the cake, so please, if you haven't already, go check it out, and give us a follow to keep up to date!
Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to express to fans of your music?
Matt: We're doing this for the simple reason, we love making great music together, playing live shows and pushing each other to be the best musicians we can. Our moto 'No halfway tricks' runs through everything we do and I think that's what people notice about us. Our vibe is open, welcoming and excepting. Our shows have a great infectious energy that seems to keep people coming back for more.We really appreciate every single person who has played our music, come to a show, bought merch or given us props. We f#@king love you all!
