An Interview With L.Eskaye

A new single from L.Eskaye delivers a fresh pop vibe that blends R&B seamlessly and comes through with an amazing attitude that lets her presence shine as an artist.

"Gucci Body" is a track that utilizes some outstanding synths and keys to combine the elements of R&B and pop together, and in doing so, it creates its own atmosphere.

You can hear some classic influences coming through on this track but there's also a much more updated and fresh pop approach with an outstanding polish and some swagger to boot.

There's something endlessly addictive about this track and it has a unique approach to it that does feel familiar at times because it is a pop single but also reaches a little bit outside the box, especially with the production.

They're all kinds of great layers going on throughout the course of the track and these layers blend some textures together to create a vibe that's completely smooth but still has this edgy undertone to it at times.

This is definitely a track that should be all over the radio because it is definitely that kind of song. A super radio-friendly pop and R&B banger that has a freshness to it and a character that you can't turn away from.

The track comes through lush and crisp simultaneously. It's got a great balance and the mix is outstanding.

You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail that went into the creation of this track in terms of the mix, production, and arrangement especially but it's the vocals that really reach out and grab you because those are what deliver that attitude and that swagger.

I love the approach to this because of how seamlessly it brings in this attitude but also keeps that pop shimmer to everything.

There's something incredibly laid-back about this single even though a lot of the keys and some synths involved are experimental and a little bit edgy at times.

A lot of parts of this song end up sticking with you for long after it's ended, and you can tell that L.Eskaye had a great time tracking this because all of that character and personality just comes oozing out for everyone to soak in.

With the release of such a fresh single, we wanted to have a talk with the artist to find out where this track actually came from and what might be coming up next for her.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Hello and thanks for taking some time with us! I wanted to start with “Gucci Body”! What a fresh blend of R&B and pop! This was an addictive track! Where did this come from?

I wanted to create a song that makes people feel amazing no matter where they are on their journey. In this context, “Gucci” isn’t about luxury—it’s a mindset, a reminder to know your worth, carry yourself with confidence, and put in the work to be your best self. I’ve experienced moments of self-doubt, and I know many struggle with self- worth. Listening to Sexy by Rae Sremmurd and Rude Girl by Bantu, both of which radiate unstoppable confidence, inspired me to capture that energy. Those songs reference luxury brands, but I wanted to shift the focus away from material things defining our worth. “Gucci Body” is about giving yourself the absolute best—because you deserve it. It’s an anthem for empowerment: walking with your head high and stepping into your main character moment.

Buzz Slayers: When did this all start for you as an artist?

I’ve loved music for as long as I can remember. At four years old, I was already memorizing lyrics, making up dances, and obsessively replaying songs. By seven, I was writing my own original songs and poetry. For years, I stayed behind the scenes—working on my vocals and songwriting privately. That all changed after I had my daughter. Seeing what my body was capable of shifted my perspective on life, and I realized I had spent too much time prioritizing what made others happy. The part of me I’d been suppressing finally said, “Enough—you’ve done everything except chase your dream.”

So, I started writing daily, and with every song, my confidence grew. One day, I looked at my work—one of which was “Gucci Body” —and thought, “Damn, I need to share this with the world.” I used to second-guess myself because I didn’t have any support, but I had to unlearn that and start validating myself. Confidence isn’t something you wake up with—it’s something you cultivate. “Gucci Body” is the result of that breakthrough—it’s me stepping fully into who I am and owning it.

Buzz Slayers: I am hearing several approaches here. Who are some of your biggest musical influences?

Oh, this one’s tough! Growing up, it was hands down Aaliyah, Monica, Brandy, Whitney Houston, and Britney Spears. I also adored Boyz II Men and Backstreet Boys. At the moment, my biggest musical inspiration is a tie between H.E.R and Bruno Mars.

Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?

Not just yet, but that’s definitely in the works. I’m just riding this wave and seeing where it takes me. Touring is definitely on my radar as I continue to grow.

Buzz Slayers: What's next for you as an artist?

“Gucci Body” is just the beginning—I have so much more music to share and so many more dreams to chase! My biggest goal is to build genuine connections with my fans around the world. For me, success isn’t about numbers; it’s about making a real impact through live performances, interviews, and heartfelt music. I have two more singles lined up later this year, followed by an EP—or maybe even an album, depending on how things evolve. Honestly, I’m just itching to get back into the studio and share more of my music.

Buzz Slayers: When you write songs, do you collaborate with producers?

This is my first time recording music professionally, so the answer would be no. That doesn’t mean I’m not open to it in the future, though! My music so far has been written entirely by me—usually cozied up with a cup of tea, but I'm very open to collaborating.

Buzz Slayers: Is it lyrics first, or do you usually hear a beat that hits you right before that happens?

My creative process is incredibly organic. Sometimes a song writes itself—like “Gucci Body”. Usually it starts with a melody. Then some lyrics will come to mind, which I’ll play around with once I sit down to craft the song. Some songs take time and effort to develop, but “Gucci Body” was different. It came from a feeling I wanted to inspire, and before I knew it, I was singing, “Only Gucci on my body.” It’s all about trusting the process and letting inspiration flow naturally.

Buzz Slayers: Who is in your headphones right now?

Oh boy, this one’s tough! I’m always—like always—listening to music. I have a playlist for the gym, one for long drives, one for when I’m cooking, meditation, working… Let me check my Spotify, lol! It’s a tie between 30 for 30 by SZA and Every Kind of Way by H.E.R - I can't choose!

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're not making music?

Prioritizing self-care and taking care of my family. Exercise, eating well, and nurturing my soul are really important to me. Once I drop the kids off at school, my mornings are me time—working out, meditating, skincare, all of that.

The rest of my day is all about my family—I try to give my kids as much quality time as possible.

Buzz Slayers: What would you say is your favourite part of doing what you do?

This one’s hard! Nothing is quite as satisfying as completing a song—when the lyrics and melody come together perfectly. But the moment I started recording and bringing the ideas in my head to life? That’s a feeling like no other.

So far, I’d say my favourite part of making music is the actual creation process, followed very closely by connecting with fans.

Buzz Slayers: What can people expect from a track like this?

I want people—especially the ladies—to feel empowered, confident, and unstoppable when they hear “Gucci Body”. Whether it’s dancing in the mirror, hyping yourself up before a night out, or just needing a reminder of your worth, “Gucci Body” is meant to lift your spirits and remind you to own your power.

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to express to fans of the music?

I’d like to express the deepest, most heartfelt thank you possible. I’ve spent my life searching for my kindreds—people who love music as much as I do, who feel what I feel when they listen. Building genuine relationships with those who connect with my art means everything to me. Just… thank you, seriously.
