An Interview With Juliano

A new single from Juliano brings out a beautiful and haunting cinematic experience that paints with an edgy array and creates vivid pictures and emotionally driven tonality that can engulf you in the first minute alone.

"Torn" is a wonderful and lush piece that grows in intensity as it plays on and builds this atmosphere that you end up floating in for longer than you think. The song stays with you. It brings up memories of your own and tells its own tale as well. And you listen.

The song is based on piano and strings and it all swims around you as it compels, pushes, pulls, and sways.

A gorgeous and intricately woven piece of music that has you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

The stings and piano play off each other's energies. The song is alive and breathing and it will take you for a ride without question.

A dramatically and powerful song, "Torn" has the magic you've been looking for.

That magic that makes you feel, wonder, and think.

Performed with a passion and heart, this was outstanding from start to finish.

Buzz Slayers: Let's kick things off with "Torn". This single has a cinematic and emotional drive to it. Where did this song come from?

Torn is inspired by various themes such as loss, grief, melancholy, loneliness and the inner conflict of a personality. My music often deals with themes that have a positive and negative impact on our lives. Torn is mostly about the negative ones, how you struggle with yourself and how some events in life change your personality. I tried to translate those questions and feelings into music.

Buzz Slayers: So when did music start affecting you? When did you know making music was something you wanted to be doing?

I realized when I was around 11 that I wanted to create my own music. Early on I was fascinated by the power of music and how individual sounds could have an effect on people and on myself. I was especially inspired by the music of The Lord of the Rings when I went to the cinema as a young child. The pure magic on the screen fascinated me so much that I wanted to become a composer and do the same. So I started to study more music and learned to play the piano.

Buzz Slayers: What inspires you to write a song?

My music is inspired by different moods, the nature, philosophy, images that I see or have in mind and of course other music by talented composers.

Buzz Slayers: This track has some beautiful styles! Can you all give us some of your top musical influences?

My influences come from many directions. As a piano player, I had to play many classical pieces and Chopin in particular always inspires me, even though I hardly play classical music any more. Besides that it's of course the big names like Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Howard Shore, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi, Hania Rani, Radiohead, Agnes Obel and many others.

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

When I’m not working on music, I’m teaching music at school, music school, giving piano lessons or arranging other songs for orchestras. Besides that I have long walks or play basketball to get a free mind.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

At the moment it’s Hania Rani, Max Richter, Cigarettes after Sex, Lambert, Agnes Obel and Vivaldi

Buzz Slayers: Are you guys doing any live performances right now?

I definitely plan to play live. I'm working on it!

Buzz Slayers: This single feels like a big undertaking, is there any advice you'd give to other up and coming artists out there?

Have fun with what you do, always try to challenge yourself and always ask yourself, what do I actually want to express with my music.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

Of course new music that I'm working on at the moment. Furthermore I am also working on more sheet music and would like to collaborate with different artists. Every artist feel free to contact me Besides that I would like to perform live and I'm looking for some gig's

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

I would like to thank everyone who listens to my music and supports me. Without this support and this wonderful community my music would not exist and it motivates me to go on and create new pieces.
