An Interview With Jennie Angel

A brand-new release from Jennie Angel gives off a warming southern rock approach with a genuine and incredibly authentic character that features Homegrown to really drive in that country undertone and it works like a charm.

"Tennessee" is absolutely massive and anthemic as it comes through with an impactful feel and a full-bodied soundscape that has a way of feeling energetic but also very welcoming.

This track feels great to listen to and by the end of it you'll be singing right along with the chorus with your hands in the air and wondering why you haven't been hearing this song on the radio for the past year.

The single has everything you could ask for from a real deal country rock banger and the delivery from both Jennie and Homegrown is spot on and passionate boasting loads of heart and that is the part of it that really becomes the most addicting.

There's some outstanding guitar work all over this track as well which you come to look for with good country rock songs these days and it just goes to show that this genre of music has always given us such bountiful musicianship and the reason it's gained so much praise and why country music in general has such a die-hard fan base it's because people relate to it.

Songs like this one work for anyone's hometown. You just feel that attachment to the song and because she's singing about her place, you automatically get that nostalgic feel.

And all this in combination mix this song Feel like a hug from a loved one. It feels like being home no matter who you are or where you're from.

I think good country rock songs are able to portray certain kinds of emotion and a lot of the time it's done through an energy level. It's like an excitement that's put forth and that's why songs like this, although the song writing is amazing, the performance has to be really there for this whole thing to come through the way it's supposed to.

And with this song everything is right at that sweet spot where it has that extra added meaning.

Not to mention this was produced very well and has an incredible radio friendliness to it.

With the release of such a wonderfully woven single we wanted to touch base with Jennie Angel to learn more about where the song came from and what might be coming up for the artist as well.

Here's what happened.

Buzz Slayers: Okay Jennie, let's start with "Tennessee"! This single had a powerful feel and was anthemic with great energy! How did this track come about?

I met these amazingly talented men from Homegrown singing karaoke at wanna be’s in Nashville. I asked them to write a song with me and we did! Siting poolside chillin writing music is a fantastic memory.

Buzz Slayers: How did this all start for you musically?

Professionally about 5 years ago I started playing shows and getting paid to sing. It was very inspiring!

Buzz Slayers: What kind of things really inspire songs for you?

Experience. Any kind of real-life experience. Whether I experience it or imagine it.

Buzz Slayers: This song has some great styles combinations on it! Can you give us some of your biggest influences musically?

Why thank you! Hanson, Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Sr, Johnny Cash, Tyler Childers, Lainey Wilson, Miranda Lambert….so many more!

Buzz Slayers: What are you doing when you're NOT working on music?

Running or songwriting or seeing other bands with my friends.

Buzz Slayers: Who's in your headphones right now?

Morgan Wallen and Able Heart

Buzz Slayers: Are you doing any live performances right now?

Yes, This Sunday 3/26 at Rockwood music hall in NYC!

Buzz Slayers: Did you record yourself or hit a big studio for this?

I have a producer that I’ve used on all but move on.

Buzz Slayers: What can your fans expect from you in the near future?

Some live acoustic and live albums! Maybe a music video!

Buzz Slayers: Before we go, what would you like to say to fans of the music?

Thank you so very much for listening and supporting! Without you none of these really cool shows would be possible. I am forever grateful!
