A Massive Album from Blueprint Tokyo

A new album from Blueprint Tokyo just dropped, and this thing is really engaging because not only does it take this vivacious sort of pop and indie rock, but they blend in cinematic undertones in a vastness throughout the record that adds not only depth but inventive thinking. Throughout it all, it sticks to this film theme with song titles and some lyrics that let you know how movies have influenced the band.

Neon Circuits and the Mission of Hope is an absolutely massive record. These guys nail this amazing aesthetic with guitar tone and vibrant songwriting and performances throughout the whole record, and you can also hear a slew of classic and pop-rock influences throughout the album that really shine through in certain tracks.

You get the strange and strong sense that a lot of these songs are focused on film, and when you look at the titles and some of the lyrics, you also get even more of that sense.

This is part of its connectivity and brilliance. It's got this thematically invasive approach that really hits beautifully, and in doing so, they're able to nail this aesthetic that almost strangely feels nostalgic in a sense.

Let's start with the first track, "Say Anything". This song is riddled with a sort of reverb and delay effect, especially on the vocals, and this helps give it that cinematic backbone along with that added expansive underbelly. I love this approach because it draws you into the song and lets you get engulfed by it.

I love how the lyrics are somewhat connected to the film, if that is exactly what they're going for. I can't be sure, of course, because I didn't write this thing, but it sure feels that way. This is a track that speaks volumes for the band and does an amazing job introducing the record because although there are plenty of surprises around its corners, this track showcases some of the Staples that you will hear throughout the rest of the album.

Brilliantly optimized vocal performances, widespread guitars with amazing tonality, spaciousness, depth, and this melodically flowing approach that just feels good when you listen to it.

You also get hints of heaviness. There are chunkier, sort of edgier rock tones that come through here and there in certain parts of a lot of these songs, but it never goes over the top. It's there for the sort of emotional push that the songs can deliver.

Tracks like " A Whole New Life" do an amazing job of displaying these kinds of elements. This track in particular feels like you're in the scene of a movie. It works for almost everybody and connects with so much of our inner thought process that it's crazy.

When you listen to the song, you feel that sense of nostalgia. It's hard to put your finger on while you're listening to it, but it feels almost like the song could have served as a part of a chapter in your own life at some point.

These are the things that this record gives you, and it's also important to note that this is an album you should absolutely be listening to from start to finish.

I did mention before that listening to a few tracks may give you a gist or idea of some of the staples that the record delivers, but this is an album meant to be listened to as a whole.

If you do, it gives you more of a full experience and journey. This is the kind of record that you listen to with headphones on and walk around your hometown.

There's a sense of youthfulness, and its undertone, and that is an aesthetic that's hard to grasp musically without having vintage sounds, but these guys just do an amazing job of nailing that down perfectly.

Some songs have a driving force behind them, like "Stranger Things", which rolls forward and continues that way so that it feels like you're running from something or to something.

See what I mean? Even sounds like this have an action feel to them. The Cinematic overtone never leaves, and it's really impressive how they lock into that.

This was a beautiful record. It was performed with lots of heart and displayed tons of personality and character to say the absolute least.

Swimming through this record will cause memories of your own to pop into your head, it may cause you to think of different films, it may make you feel nostalgic, or it may just hit you in a connective sense so that you can relate to it.

Either way, you're getting something that's very authentic. The music of this record comes through with a thriving and shining approach and soundscape that really has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to with different levels of intensity at all times.

I would definitely check this record out with headphones, and again, the whole thing. Listen to this from beginning to end.

You'll see that it will have some kind of effect on you, and once you get locked into their atmosphere, you won't want to leave.
