An Impactful New Album from Baby Did A Bad Thing

ree

A new album release from Baby Did A Bad Thing, the band takes several approaches that all have a way of shedding some light into a lot of the character behind the songs, the presence of the band themselves, and so much emotionally backed honesty with descriptive lyrics and loads of pure thought process that is just put out there for everyone.

There are several different songwriting styles; you do have this sort of organic warmth in the tonality of everything, so it feels like they paid a lot of attention to the overall aesthetic and feel of what they were going for, which was something inviting and genuine.

The record is simply called Hope, and this title makes perfect sense if you listen to the record in full. Listening to this nine-track album, you can clearly hear a lot of reflective, semi-vulnerable, and honest layers unraveling so that you can sort of take all of that in and paint yourself a picture of the stories that are told.

This is only one of the reasons to listen to this record in full. The other is simply because if you listen to a few songs, it doesn't really give you the full spectrum of what the record has to offer. As I mentioned before, there are several different approaches to the songwriting styles, although everything is very confident.

The record starts with the track called "Forever Is Starting Now", and it definitely showcases a more stomping, clapping, roots folk appeal with Americana and Southern tonalities, but again, this social warmth that's given, and that's something you end up getting attached to very quickly.

Although this does give some of the great Staples that the record boasts, the song that follows feels completely different.

The follow-up track is the title track of the record, "Hope". This song comes in with piano and vocals as a sort of ballad, and you really find yourself paying deep attention to the lyrics, which are again, very reflective and Powerful, connective and relatable to a lot of people.

This is coming from the fact that they're able to spin those lyrics into something that makes perfect sense the way that they're told. It's beautiful how expressive this whole album can be, but it sounds like this one that really takes the cake in terms of pushing the emotional boundaries and really pulling at the heartstrings.

When I think of something cinematically driving, this is exactly what I mean.

It's the emotional songs that feel cinematic, but it's also the certain level of vastness in the underbelly of them that helps set that mood for the emotion as well.

"Journey" is also a song off the record that feels almost cathartic to listen to and probably more so to write and release for the band.

The track is an acoustic-based singer-songwriter style approach, and it's really an amazing build.

The way some of these songs grow from one place into something else is pretty incredible at times, and this is one of those times.

The record has a lot to offer and plenty of messages and sentiment that come shining through with massive presence, amazing guitar tone, this brilliant energy, and again, a fantastic warmth.

The last track on the record, "Mirror", sheds light on some of the personality behind everything, and it's a song that hit me particularly hard. It did so because it's something that I related to. The lyrics are beautifully put and can be so straightforward at times that you can feel that pull you in.

This is part of why this album stands out.

The messaging is strong and connective.

They have an amazing energy that puts you in the moment with them a lot of the time. The drumming sets this flow for the songs; the guitar work is always sort of layered, but simplified in a way.

There's nothing overdone with this entire release.

Everything is balanced amazingly, and that's part of why it has this sort of elegance to it all.

I definitely felt quite an impact from this record because again, it's one of the more reflective records I've heard in a long time, and they were able to bring elements of folk, classic rock, southern-kissed Americana, and more to the table so that this atmosphere was created, and that's what you get pulled into.

It's the atmosphere of it all that you sort of can, and it's a beautiful experience.

Again, to really experience this properly, you want to listen to the whole album. It's nine songs and almost 40 minutes in length.

This is very well worth your time to say the absolute least. This is music that lets you feel or think; most of the time, it does both.

This is something we certainly all need more of.

Take a deep dive into this one as soon as you can, and you won't soon regret it.

Remember where you heard this first.
