An Album Release from The Last Drop of Blood

An album release from The Last Drop of Blood comes through with a very particular swagger-riddled southern rock undertone but it does so with this almost cinematic backbone to the point where you're watching a gritty old western and I love the fact that these songs feel like they're interconnected like a concept album and perhaps that's exactly what this is.

Either way, you're getting a lot of great stories and these soulful guitar riffs that dig deep and come through layered with multiple guitars overlapping each other a lot of the time giving the songs these full-bodied and lush sounds games.

One of the things I adore about this record is how in-depth it goes and how some of these guitar tones change from song to song giving them each their own identity in a weird way.

You can hear the tremolo and reverb-effected guitars layered throughout each other and the songs are laced with these great and sort of inventive but somewhat vintage feeling sounds and tones throughout the entire release.

This was really fun and I do feel indeed like this is a concept album because it feels like the songs interconnect in different ways which is something I really like about it because it pulls you in story-wise and the vocalist does a really amazing job of delivering those stories by way of, at times, a great level of description and detail.

There are more than a few surprises around the corners of this record especially sound-wise and that cinematic and almost theatrical drive is always there but sometimes it's thicker than others.

There are certain tracks with these deep piano notes serving as a root bass note for certain progressions and this builds that cinematic theme, but I think this is exactly what they aimed for.

The album is called Season II, and I think it's meant to feel and seem exactly like an actual sort of gothic western television series or film.

That approach and aesthetic are so evident throughout all of these tracks, and I absolutely love the idea behind releasing records that unfold like a series, book, play, or even film.

It just adds so much depth to the music and these guys have a very unique way of approaching that because the music itself tonally, also has great depth to it and if you listen to the whole record, it does have a way of engulfing you and then eventually letting you get washed away with everything as well.

You can tell that there was a lot of attention to detail during the creation of this record, but it never loses that sort of character that it starts off with in the first place and this may be the most important aspect of the entire thing.

You get high-impact southern, blues-driven gothic-laced rock songs that have soul just oozing out of every aspect of them, but you get an array of songwriting as well still with this sort of theme and staple sound and feel.

This was quite an adventure and upon listening to it I couldn't help but dive into some of their previous releases including a killer self-titled record from 2018 that really showcases a little bit of a different side to the songwriting but also shows you some of their evolution.

These guys are an incredibly fun band with such a focus on their theme that it works perfectly with such a static detail that you're left in awe of it all.

Absolutely check this record out when you can and do it with headphones so you can really drink in everything that's going on with the record.

Also, don't forget where you heard it first.

Thank you BuzzSlayers for this amazing and well-deserved review of one of the coolest contemporary Italian gothic dark rock bands.

I agree with your analysis, Season II is sort of a concept album both in sounds and in lyrics.

The lyrics are poignant, witty, cinematic, somehow cynical in their portrayal of life and feelings, and really deserve due attention. I'm in awe with them.

Cheers from Italy!
