A Warm and Soulful Single from Johnny Murrell

A lush new single release from Johnny Murrell delivers a well-rounded and beautiful combination of classic rock, Soul pop, gospel, and so much more all rolled into this almost aesthetically vintage soundscape that is just bursting at the seams with character and this is one of the things you get attached to almost right away.

"308 Bowery" has a way of wrapping itself around you and keeping you right where it wants to by way of this warm and welcoming delivery especially by the vocals however, having said that, this song has an array of warm instrumentation that helps push that Soulful end robust sound to a memorable level.

This song certainly has these amazing hints at a southern undertone and there's something so comforting about it that you end up feeling these elements of nostalgia hit you which is a rare thing in music these days so when it happens it's almost rejuvenating.

This track boasts everything from horn sections to organs and so much more and all of this adds color and depth to the track along with that again, almost gospel underbelly that feeds into the soulfulness of everything and the funny part about it is that there actually is no gospel choir singing in the track.

It's just Johnny's passionate vocals that take you to that place along with the atmosphere that the song comes with and it's amazing how he feeds into that atmosphere to deliver something that compliments it perfectly.

This track has character, and character is something that in my opinion, a lot of the time, is missing from music these days so when I heard this song, not only did I feel that Southern and soulful warmth, but I got a grasp for how Johnny performs and gives off his presence as an artist.

This track lets his presence shine perfectly.

The way the song is constructed and mixed really lets it have an almost cinematic vastness in its undertone and this lets it feel expansive and big while delivering this sort of subtly electric energy that is incredibly infectious.

To an extent, it almost feels like this track was recorded live on the floor so that Johnny could feed into it, and it seems like everyone involved was feeding off of each other as well and I think this is part of what gives the song this alive and breathing feeling.

Upon listening to this track, I had to take a bit of a deep dive into his back catalog and I'm glad that I did because he's got an amazing handful of singles released on Spotify since 2018 and each one shows a little bit of a different side too not only has Artistry but his personality as well.

I would certainly start with this single and work my way back so you can kind of hear the evolution of Johnny Murrell and his music because it's really fun and a little bit surprising as well at times.

This is an artist I will certainly be keeping a close eye on from here on out and if you're someone who loves people who make music for the soul, music that randomly makes memories of your own flash into your head, music that feels like a warm hug from a loved one you haven't seen in a long time, then this is 100% for you.

Put some headphones on and listen to this track right now and just let it fill you up.

Remember where you heard it first.
