A brand new single from Thom Chapman brings out a specific kind of honesty and this is something that you end up latching on to very quickly in the track however it does also give off this blending and mending genres that have everything from a garage undertone to a dream pop and indie rock overtone as well and those elements are put together incredibly well to the point where it actually creates a sort of atmosphere.
"Trouble" is a unique track and at times it makes me think of certain kinds of classic singer-songwriters like Elliott Smith vocally while musically it takes on a little bit of a harder edge to feel with these driving beats that give it a really cool time signature and rhythm and fuzz tone guitars that add to that indie rock sense.
I love how the song does have that edginess, but it still feels so smooth, flowing, forward moving, and almost calm.
There's a little bit of sullenness in its underbelly and I think that's because the track came from someplace very real for the artist so there is a bit of emotional backbone there and that shines through really well in the track, so it feels authentic when you listen to it.
There's also something very graceful about the entire performance because the vocals are sort of soft and subtle and the notes are very held out so it almost just feels like another instrument adding more melody atop the rest of the track which is something I really enjoyed and all together between the beats the vocals the guitars and everything else, it conforms into this unique feel and you end up getting wrapped up in it all.
I love hearing songs like this because it brings out such an identifying soundscape to the point where there are fewer boundaries than you may be used to, and I think that's where the future of music is going.
Being able to blend genres seamlessly the way that Thom did with this track is not an easy thing to accomplish but he did it so well that it actually has a certain charm to it.
I also love the fact that he's giving a piece of himself on the track and by the end of the song everything has grown and intensity and become this sort of massive sonic wave that crashes down.
I am definitely going to be paying a lot more attention to whatever this artist is going to be releasing in the near future, and I do hope there's more to hear soon because the song was quite addicting.
When you listen to this track first thing in the morning it puts you in a very particular kind of mood that just feels real to me.
The whole thing was put together with a lot of attention to detail, but it never loses that sort of personality or character that it begins with, and I feel like that can be one of the most important aspects about this track as a whole.
I would definitely suggest listening to this track as soon as you can and seeing how it affects you because it will have an effect on you.
This track has a wonderful way of swimming around in the air that surrounds you and it serves as a very small escape from your day to day which I enjoyed as well.
Perhaps that's because it does bear a little bit of a cinematic backbone as well.
This again, comes from that emotional drive that the song boasts.
An outstanding track from an artist putting himself into his music.
