A New Single From Carmen Toth

ree

A brand new single release from Carmen Toth manages to blend these amazing elements of 80s and 90s pop rock with hints of punk and this very classic rock undertone that beckons vintage releases from the late 70s, and does it so well that the whole thing just feels authentic.

This track has some depth to it. There's a pretty heavy-handed message behind it all, and it's aimed towards asking the question 'How are we going to fix what's broken in the world by acting the way we do?'

Now, this is how I interpreted the track, and others may interpret it a little differently, but for me, the sentiment was pretty loud and clear.

Not only that, but it's a brave one too. A message that a lot of us need to hear, and she's absolutely right.

You can tell that this was brought on by a specific situation and that inspired her to write this song, and I love how she articulated the lyrics so well that you can sort of paint a picture as the song unfolds.

There's a great description and some of the lyrics, and that really helps tell the story very well. I think she just has a natural knack for that kind of thing.

The song opens up with clean guitars, and that goes on through the choruses. It's got a sort of sad progression to it in a sense, and the vocal melodies also follow suit but are performed with a sort of passion that pulls you in.

Then, at the chorus, it sort of explodes a bit into that punk and pop rock approach, still leaning into this '80s and '90s kind of feel and aesthetic, but it works amazingly.

When the course kicks in, you start to hear vocal harmonies, and she opens up a lot more in terms of her performance by getting a little louder, belting out a little more, and hitting things a little harder.

I also love how there are layers of guitars here. There are clean and distorted guitars at those courses, and at certain points of the song, especially during the last minute or so, you have such a full-bodied and extremely lush soundscape with all these great layers of guitar tones happening, vocals, live percussion, and everything else.

The track just comes through as a bit of a powerhouse, and you don't really expect that at the very start. You expect more of a ballad because that's what it feels like.

I love a song that surprises me the way this one did, and it was a pleasant surprise at that.

This is absolutely a song that showcases an artist who knows the sound she's going for. She aims for a certain aesthetic, and she completely nails it the entire time.

It also shows that she's got something to say. This is a song with a message, as I mentioned before.

She does an amazing job at portraying that message and doing so with certain emphasis on the heavier points of it. She delivers everything with a sort of soulful excitement and authentic undertone that shines through and absolutely shows her presence as an artist.

You also have a bit of a cinematic backbone going on, too, because there are also these synth pads that happen throughout the song, and you can really hear those at the very end as guitars ring out. Those synths are holding out past the guitars and adding that sense of depth to the song, bringing it into more of a cinematic feel.

You can tell this is all very well thought out, and it came through exactly the way it was intended.

This thing had great changes, addictive progressions, and some heart, along with that message she's trying to send out there.

So, take a deep, good listen to this track, and I'm sure it's going to affect you.

Do not forget where you heard this first.
