A Haunting New Release from Demi The Daredevil

A very alluring new single from Demi the Daredevil brings out a unique soundscape that feels almost theatrical in a sense but based off of a catchy but alternative pop aesthetic and throughout its course you get a reeling honesty that helps you understand that the artist is telling you a story that lets out a lot of inner thought and emotion in a particular way.
The first thing that catches your ear about "Cursed House" is its rhythm. This has a bopping sort of rhythm, giving it that pop overcoat, and it does have a bit of color to it as well, but is indeed edgy and has a slight haunt and its underbelly.
This blends and bends genres under the pop umbrella seamlessly, and does so with such an animated feel that you get caught up in what I would consider to be the theatrics of it all.
The vocal melodies are insanely catchy, and the chorus is one massive hook that ends up bouncing around in your brain for hours or even days after the song has ended.
This is the type of track that you go back and listen to over and over just so you can catch everything, especially lyrically.
The track has loads of layers with gorgeous textures and this cinematic robustness, but it's this personality or character that it delivers that you end up getting attached to.
The musical and production approach to this track is borderline brilliant because it keeps you right where it wants to. The whole soundscape of it wraps itself around you, and you become engulfed in the melodies, hooks, and even textural tonalities that you hear.
It's an insanely fun song, but it does come with that honesty, and if you really listen, the song feels very personal.
Now, anyone who listens to this track may take it differently but for me, I took it as someone letting loose. It feels like he was getting a lot off his chest about his childhood and coming home to the house that he lived in.
Questioning whether or not the things that were happening in his home were supposed to be happening.
Some of us can relate to that, and I think it takes guts to be able to drop a track that gives so much detail in terms of the emotional struggle that was felt during these times.
It feels like a vulnerable track and may have even been cathartic for him to write and release, but either way, it gives you a lot of detail, sometimes in plain sight, and sometimes in a more metaphoric way.
Still, you're getting a lot to chew on, and like I mentioned earlier, this is how I took the song.
I didn't write the song, so it could be completely fictional.
For me, this was super personal and speaks volumes for the artist's unique brand of honesty and his ability to let all this sort of emotion and inner thoughts spill out for everyone to soak in.
It's a bit Fearless in a way.
This is the aspect that hit me the hardest.
Like I said before all of this, it's an incredibly catchy song and really feels good for the radio or anyone who loves good pop in their playlists.
There's always that little hint of darkness going throughout the track because it is thematically a bit dark, but it still has this element of brightness to it.
This mostly comes from the progression, the music, the keys and guitars, and some of the vocal hooks that are delivered.
It still keeps to this character riddled and edgy, thematically driving approach, and aesthetic, which was completely brilliant.
I definitely dug deep into this one. It doesn't mean you have to dig that deep, but it struck a nerve with me, and I found it to be more connective than a lot of songs I've heard recently.
For people who do take the song the way I did, it can be even relieving in a sense. Letting us feel like we're not alone in those thoughts or questions that we've had about our past as a kid.
Some of us ran away from all of that.
For those who experienced it and take the song this way, it can be inviting and can welcome us in a certain aspect.
I found that so impactful, and the way that it was all portrayed quite beautiful.
This comes with a very interesting music video as well that pushes some of that sentiment even further, but also gives a little bit more of that creepy haunt and ghostly sort of vibe. But you can see the loneliness there if you look carefully.
This was very well put together also because of how it was edited and filmed.
I love how they took a semi-simplistic approach to the video and built around that so that it became more robust and borderline glitchy in the end.
All of this, from the production to the lyrics to the video, was very well thought out.
This is an artist who puts a lot of attention to detail into the creations that he's putting out there, so there is meaning behind songs like this and portrayal behind videos like this.
You have to pay attention to pick them up, but it's well worth it.
